Hello everyone,

If you have not already done so, please vote in the "Star Trek Games, 2008 Player Choice Awards," an annual contest of Star Trek RPGs and computer games. UFOP: SB118 is in the running with two other groups in the RPG category, and in these final hours, WE NEED YOUR VOTES to finish out this contest with a DECISIVE victory! This is a big award for our group, because it helps bring in a very targeted group of fans who may be interested in joining.

The process is VERY simple, and takes about five minutes. Please follow these directions:

2. After registering, log in: http://startrek-games.com/startrekforum/index.php

3. Go to the following URL: http://startrek-games.com/startrekforum/showthread.php?t=10880

All starbase118.net mail blocked on Yahoo!

  • FltAdml. Tristan Wolf

Hello everyone,

For some reason, Yahoo! has started blocking all e-mails coming from the starbase118.net domain. This means that any forms on our site, standard e-mails from the forums, etc. are not making it into your Yahoo! account, or any Yahoo! Groups lists.

I'm working with our hosting provider to see what's going on, but answers are not very forthcoming. Please hold off on submitting any forms, or relying on any starbase118.net mail forwarding to any Yahoo! properties until we know more.

Awards : 24 hours left

  • Rear Admiral Rocar Drawoh

Dear members of UFoP: Starbase 118,

As you know, each year we hold an annual awards ceremony to honour and reward hard-working members of the fleet.

There are only 24 hours left before nominations close!

So far this year there has been a very low turnout in nominations. Unless you nominate in the next 24 hours then there will not be many awards issued on your ship.

In the past we have always taken the award ceremonies very seriously, as they are important in rewarding the members of our community, who we believe are among the best in the world. Over time, the process of the ceremony itself has become more sophisticated, to ensure that the best qualified individuals receive the awards they are most suited for.

These rewards, however, must come from you –the members of the Fleet. Your Captains cannot hand out awards to whomever they like. So, please, do your part and reward those you believe have earned one of these long standing UFoP honours. This is your chance to show your individual crewmates and friends that you value specific aspects of their contributions. If a ship has no (or few) award recipients that it is an indication that you did not nominate one another, so take this opportunity to let people know how you feel!

All members are, therefore, encouraged to head to the nomination form to begin sending in their nominations.

Please can I remind you that they may nominate fellow members only based on what has occurred since the last ceremony ( i.e. in the past 12 months). You are also reminded that you should nominate fellow members based on their actual work, and not on their popularity. Before making a nomination please review all the information on our awards ceremony and on the individual awards themselves. This can be found here:

http://www.starbase118.net/members/events/awards/index.php

Once you have read up on each award, then proceed to the nominations panel. The panel allows members to nominate one person at a time. The nominator chooses a colleague they'd like to nominate, as well as the award they'd like to nominate that person for. They then write a short description of why they feel the person should receive the award, and include a sample sim from that person to demonstrate their reasoning on the nomination. Nominations will only be accepted if all this information is included. You will firstly need to login to www.starbase118.net/forums and then you will be able to access the nominations panel here:

http://www.starbase118.net/members/forms/awards/

• Remember, that the awards in the Duty Post and Staff categories are fleet wide and only given out once per ceremony. • For the remainder of the awards which are not marked as special, only one person per ship can receive each award. • Check a person's profile to make sure they have not already received the award you intend to nominate them for in a previous year (as awards cannot be rewarded twice)

Finally, please remember that your Commanding Officers do a lot of hard-work in the background (both on your ship and in a fleet wide capacity). Although members of UFoP: Starbase 118 Staff, they are not paid for their efforts and the vast amounts of time they devote to the group and your enjoyment. So, as you nominate your crewmates do also spare a thought to nominating your Captain for one of the Staff Awards.

Once nominations close, Fleet Captain T'Pen will chair a committee that will decide which nominees are granted awards. Awards Ceremonies will then be held at the end of December / start of January.

If you encounter any problems or have any questions then please do not hesitate to e-mail me.

You have 24 hours left!
