Staff

The staff group for Amity Outpost serves to facilitate the ongoing operation of our game. Membership to the staff group is by invitation only based on demonstrated simming and OOC contributions to the station.

Amity staff members discuss topics including (but not limited to) Amity's ongoing story development, personnel details, long-term planning, mentoring of new or returning members, and concerns regarding IC and OOC conduct. All Amity players who are part of the station's staff group and are of Lt. Commander rank or higher are expected to participate in the mentoring program as a mentor. The mentoring program is administered by the first officer.

All emails your mentor, XO, or Captain sends to you are typically BCC'd to the staff list for training (and quality!) purposes, as this allows other staff members to comment or offer them advice so you receive the best helping hand in our RPG.

All staff members have access to:

  • Monthly report composed by CO
  • Amity Google Document Drive
    • Including original Amity Outpost proposal, mentoring information, and received mission proposals.
  • Advice and mentoring guidance
  • Emails sent to members by mentors

Command staff

The command staff refers to the smaller staff group made up of the Amity Outpost's commanding officer, first officer, and second officer. Sometimes referred to as the "command trio", they handle the more sensitive matters off the staff list. It is their job to monitor player sim rates individually and as a whole, and determine disciplinary actions (if necessary). More often they will choose what the station's next mission will be from the list of mission proposals in the Amity Google Document drive made available to all staff members.

Proposals & Concept Approvals

Part of the role of the Command Trio is providing feedback, guidance, and approvals on various high-level ideas proposed by Amity's crew (OOC). Sometimes, it can be a little unclear whether a concept warrants Command review/approval, but in general the primary consideration is whether or not the idea would cause a significant change to the storytelling, nature, or capabilities of Amity Outpost, one of its characters, or Starfleet / the established Star Trek Universe as a whole. Here are some example scenarios:

Do run by the Command Trio (and CC your Mentor!):

  • Transfer Requests, New Primary or Secondary Characters, Mission-Specific PNPCs.
  • Proposed new systems / procedures that will affect other Officers.
  • New species, factions, regions to play with around Amity.
  • Mission proposals.

Don't need to run by the Command Trio:

  • New PNPCs and General NPCs (do not require approval, but we're happy to provide feedback).
  • Personal / interpersonal storylines and JP ideas.
  • Smaller projects affecting one individual / one team (these can always be proposed IC).
  • Incorporation / development of established Alpha or 118 canon elements which are not currently in play on Amity.

And if you're not sure, please run your idea by your mentor first!
