Lieutenant Junior Grade Alleran Tan (formerly Alleran Mapak) is a joined Trill, helmsman and pilot who is unassigned. He is currently recovering in the long-term recovery ward of Medical Starbase 253.

To add insult to injury, upon waking from his coma his request to return to the USS Independence-A was denied by Sidney Riley. He is purposeless, physically crippled and mentally broken.
