Although he ultimately survived the experience, his wounds meant he could never be a fighter pilot again. To further add insult to injury, upon waking from his coma his request to return to the [[USS Independence-A]] was denied by [[Riley, Sidney|Sidney Riley]].

He died aboard the Galaxy-class ship after experiencing a profound drop in isoboramine. The Tan symbiont was later implanted unsuccessfully into Safine Tan, and then later into Serren Tan.
