History
Alex Harper was raised on a cargo vessel, spending her younger years reading through many reports about worlds all over the Federation. Whenever her families ship would head to a new destination she would read as many news articles as she could find about the destination, and then promptly quiz the inhabitants. At the age of 15 she was asked by a Starfleet Officer on Andorra, “Are you a reporter or something?” Following this question Alex started writing about wherever she went, talking of the events she witnessed. At 18 she was accepted as a Junior Reporter in the FNS.
Career
Alex was stationed on Earth for the first three years of her career, in 2382 she was attached to a group of reporters attached to the Federation President, they would travel with the President as part of their press corps.
During this time Alex spent time on Qu'Nos as the Federation President visited in order to improve relations. She was reprimanded for attempting to broadcast while drunk, her and Klingon counterpart attempted to our drink each other, Alex lost.
Alex also rescued the Federation Ambassadors cat as another attendee at a party thought it was dinner.
After 12 years in 2394, Alex returned to Earth and took over as political editor at FNS HQ.
In 2398 she stood down as political editor to pursue a story on Starbase 118, wishing to "get back out there").
