Chronological History
101 and 000 were born on Bynaus in 2374 to their respective parents and were bonded together shortly after birth.
101’s parents, 010 and 111, were a bonded pair of medical professionals. They were surgeons who specialized in the brain surgery performed on all Bynar infants after birth (which installs a synaptic processor in the place of the parietal lobe).
000’s parents, 100 and 001, were a bonded pair of programmers. They frequently worked for Starfleet to install advanced computer updates and perform other such contracted work on an as-needed basis. This exposure to Starfleet planted the idea of enrollment in young 101 and 000’s heads.
101 and 000 developed a knack for the mechanical side of computing at an early age, and would frequently disassemble and reassemble small computing machines (such as calculators) to learn how they worked.
When 101 and 000 were eighteen years old, they were performing routine maintenance work on their home planet’s computer systems when a power surge resulted in an explosion. 000 was badly injured, and their enrollment into Starfleet Academy was delayed. This changed their dynamic, and 101 became more protective while 000 became more careful. They were no longer perfectly balanced— 101 became accustomed to initiating their speech and actions, and 000 usually followed the lead.
In 2399, they graduated from Starfleet Academy with majors in engineering. Their strongest performances were in electronics and programming.
