Introduction
The medical facilities of the Station are housed within the Clinic, situated in Anchorage and spanning from Level 2 to Level 5. The Clinic stands out for its cutting-edge provisions, boasting the incorporation of state-of-the-art equipment to provide advanced medical care and services.
From the Anchorage tower lobby Denali residents and visitors enter the clinic by way of a large staircase or turbolift. An internal turbolift structure for the hospital facility can then deliver patients to other areas of the hospital, ensuring both quarantine and security procedures are honored. A maintenance delivery turbolift access point is also available to hospital staff, and base engineering staff.
The hospital also has an incoming and outgoing transporter room. Emergency staff can also use that location for transport or fast access to patients experiencing a medical emergency on the station. In the event of a station crisis, command has the authority to initiate site-to-site transports for medical personnel to affected areas as necessary.
Level 2
Waiting/Triage room – a spacious waiting room with ample seating and a calming ambiance. Patients are greeted by a triage robot and nurse on arrival. It is here that new arrivals will be assessed and based on their need placed in a queue to see medical staff on level 3. Along with rows of comfortable seating the waiting room also contains multiple view screens which show the Federation News Service feed around the clock.
Incoming and outgoing transporter room – The clinic has two transporter rooms located on level 2. For ease of movement, and in case of emergency, one is designated for outgoing transportation while the other incoming.
Storage Room - For efficient management, medical supplies are centrally stored in a designated storage room on Level 2. In this large room located in the back half of level 2, staff can find row after row of medical items for use in the clinic and through the Denali Station complex. Other supplies stored here will make their way for use in the station's shuttlecraft, runabouts and for restocking any orbiting Federation ships. Due to the distance between the Ring and other parts of Federation space Denali stores a large amount of medical supplies in order that it can quickly deal with any number of medical emergencies throughout the Avvaro Wilds. The storage room has its own elevator and stairwell up to level 3.
Level 3
Nurses Station - Set across from the turbolift doors this area is where on-shift nurses and other health care staff work when not directly engaged with patients and perform some of their more administrative duties.
Examination Rooms - Level 3 accommodates five examination rooms, each equipped to cater to medical needs. Located down a hallway next to the nurses station these six rooms are used for doctors to meet with and assess patients.
Emergency Medicine - this large open room set behind the nurses station contains twenty bio-beds and can be used to handle most types of medical emergencies. Patients who are transported directly to the clinic are beamed to this room.
ICU - Intensive care refers to the specialised treatment given to patients who are acutely unwell and require critical medical care. The intensive care unit (ICU) provides critical care and life support for acutely ill and injured patients.
Surgical Suite - a group of four operating rooms, one large recovery room with five beds, and other related areas (e.g., scrub room, sterile storage room) located on the back side of level 3 where surgery is performed.
Recovery Rooms - The clinic has ten private rooms for patients who are recovering from surgery or other treatments. These rooms double as isolation rooms if needed.
Level 4
Chief Medical Officer's Office - The Chief Medical Officer’s office is more a suite than a single room. The primary office chamber contains a desk and desktop monitor, as well as large medical displays. From here, one can monitor the status and progress of literally hundreds of patients in the hospital. Adjoining the office is a lounge for less formal individual meetings with the base’s CMO. Adjoining the lounge room is the Chief Medical Officer’s conference room, dominated by a large conference table, which is roughly the same size of a table in a starship conference room.
Medical Staff offices - Each doctor stationed on Denali station has their own small office where they can catch up on paperwork or take a moment to themselves after a busy shift.
Administration offices - A clinic does not run on doctors alone, these offices are for the Federation administrators who make sure the medical department is running smoothly.
Staff Lounge – A medium sized room with a window that looks out towards the front of Anchorage. The break room has a meal area which is equipped with a replicator as well as tables and chairs. It also has a lounge type area with more comfortable couches and lounging chairs.
Level 5
Counseling Suite
Security Substation - A small group of Star Fleet security officers are stationed in an office on Level 5 so they can quickly respond if incidents occur on any of the clinic levels.
