Background
Kimahri was born on stardate 237505.04 in Venice, Florida, on Earth. Her parents met while serving in Star Fleet but separated after her father resigned from his commission. Her parents would share custody, but since her mother remained on active duty in Starfleet, she would spend most of her formative years with her father. Tobius had been raised by his Klingon stepfather and, as a result, formed a deep connection with Klingon culture. Kimahri respected her Klingon "heritage" but shared Tobius' deep connection with it.
During his time in Starfleet, Tobius became disillusioned with the organization and fought vigorously to keep his daughter away from it. Kimahri had always wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps, though, and enrolled in Starfleet Academy when she turned eighteen. He had always painted such a negative picture of his time in Starfleet, an outlook that her mother did not seem to share, so Kimahri felt driven to come to her own conclusions. With Jun's support, Kimahri would successfully graduate from the Academy and complete her graduate studies. She would soon after take the final steps towards earning her commission, beginning her senior exam on stardate 240003.14.
