Welcome to the 118Wiki!
Hello and welcome to both StarBase 118 and the 118Wiki! I see you've already made some very helpful edits. Since it looks like your interest is the ILI, I'd suggest introducing yourself to Daryl aka Commander Tal Tel-ar, who is the team facilitator for the Species Development Committee.
I did notice you've been adding the various ILI special templates such as quarantine, etc. Just one style note. On the wiki, we like to keep the LCARS style header as the highest element of a page. Thus, the final look would be more like this: Q_(species).
If you have any questions about editing or the 118Wiki in general, feel free to ask! Otherwise, thanks again for contributing and welcome again to the fleet! ♫ Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman/Bakari, Chief of Wiki Operations 07:37, 17 December 2014 (CST)
Alumni category
Hi there! I noticed you removed the Constitution-B category from Sariel Locke. As Locke has served as the Constitution-B's Chief Science Officer, he should be added to Category:Constitution-B Alumni, as once an officer leaves a posting, an alumni category is added, as well as the new ship's PC category. If you have any questions, let me know! :) ♣ Deliera ▪ talk ▪ Vice Chief of Wiki Ops 00:31, 25 January 2015 (CST)
blanked pages
Hey, nice job so far. For the character info on blanked pages, you don't need to hide it, and you can still categorize them. We want People to be able to read it directly as part of the historical record. See Sidney Riley as another example. Thanks, again! ♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Operations 11:44, 26 January 2015 (CST)
Deleting pages
No worries. Also, no need to blank a page when queuing it for deletion. Just putting the deletion template is good enough. ♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Operations 19:46, 26 January 2015 (CST)
My PNPCs
Thank you for the information.
I will update when I have time. If you find any other work that belongs to me please email me.
Thank You Lt Cmdr Siris
Service History template
Hey there! So some thoughts:
- I'd avoid HTML as much as possible. Yes, it can be a short cut, but there's usually wiki markup that is simpler that can replace much of it, and you can avoid the issues you get such as now when you're trying to merge the two.
- Jackford has created a template that incorporates a lot of similar functionality such as having merged rows: Template:RoundTable
- It lacks any documentation, and I'm not a fan of how he named the variables (Rank 2 or 2nd Rank would have been more intuitive for users than R2 for instance), but you can see an example of the merging at Columbia Crew History.
- So anyway, it might be easier to take his template (and the subtemplates it uses such for crew history specifically) as a starting point and modifying it to suit your needs. I'd have it so instead of basing it on the character name, the first and anchoring variable would be the ship/station.
- That said, I do not really find these kind of templates worth the time and effort it takes to build and troubleshoot them as they end up not being used by most general 118 members. They ultimately are just as complex to use as the standard way of creating a service table on the wiki. Furthermore, at least by doing it "the long way," general members learn useful skills such as how to create and edit a table in wiki format (and the use of rowspan for merged rows) whereas the knowledge to use a specific template is non-transferable elsewhere on the wiki.

FNS
Easiest would be to submit it via forums. Just make a new thread for the article like you've seen others do.♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Operations 07:12, 4 February 2015 (CST)
individuals of a species categories
Hi there. The categories of a plural for a species are so that all members of those species are categorized in that category. It is distinct from the larger basic species category. Ex. Category:Vulcan vs Category:Vulcans. Furthermore these plural categories are linked via the ILI sidebar templates for those species. ♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Operations 17:15, 25 February 2015 (CST)
- No worries! Also can I ask that when you mark pages for deletion that you don't blank them. Just add the delete template at the top. Makes it easier to double check before confirming the delete. Thanks And happy editing! :) ♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Operations 17:28, 25 February 2015 (CST)
ILI
Please do not unilaterally revert an administrator's changes without discussing them first with the administrator. The species categories were updated based on their listing in the ILI permitted gallery by User:Canreb, head of SDC. Likewise, those listed as permitted but not added to the Gallery such as the Xindi species were added to the gallery. These changes were done after the issue was brought up in the Captains Council. ♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Operations 07:53, 1 March 2015 (CST)
- Well, the issue was just brought up last night, and it doesn't actually involve changing any species ratings, just making sure the wiki/ILI accurately reflects what the SDC already decided. The ILI as with any part of the wiki is open to editing by all as along as the edits are constructive. Ensuring that pages are properly categorized for instance is one of the defined roles of the 118Wiki:Administrators. We generally don't just change things without a good reason. :)
- Also, I'd advise refraining from unnecessarily hostile or aggressive edit summaries that are chastising in tone. Please remember we are all just trying to build the best wiki possible for our community. Mistakes can and will happen from time to time but no one is trying to screw things up or sabotage the wiki. It's important to foster a positive, welcoming atmosphere for all members on the wiki, forums, and elsewhere, especially for newer members just getting started. COs and other staff members may also consider inflammatory remarks, whether on a simming group or on the wiki/forums/chat, in violation of our community rules (especially if shown to be repeated behavior), so it's best not to develop such habits. ♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Operations 08:47, 1 March 2015 (CST)
Category:Marines
Thanks for the help, Nicholas! Re: Marines, I think we'll just use the Category:Marines from now on and have the other category be about the organization. ♫ Rich ▪ talk 18:47, 26 March 2015 (CDT)
Categories
Hi - thanks for updating the categories on Vance Sheridan's page. I'd been meaning to go back and do that, but forgot! You've reminded me of something I was going to take a look at before I disappeared last year, which is to rename categories across the board so that they correspond with the way we're referring to specific duty posts at the moment (so everyone has Counsellors, Medical Officers, First Officers, Intelligence Officers, Captains etc) - wanted to give you a heads up so you don't feel like I'm overwriting your edit on Sheridan's page when the time comes! SB118 Alum
Hello. I sent a message to Rich about it, asking which would be the better one to keep. He said that since traditionally it has been referenced as the capital "B" in the middle, that we should use that one. Hope I'm not stepping on your toes. This is a mighty large task, categorizing the alumni. Just trying to help out. -Varaan (talk) 01:46, 29 March 2015 (CDT)
Here's a question: Should the Alumni pages be restricted to Primary and Secondary characters? Should NPCs be left out by virtue of them being NPCs and not actual characters? I say NOT NPCs. What do you think? -Varaan (talk) 02:19, 29 March 2015 (CDT)
Category tweak
Took me a little bit to see what you'd corrected until I saw there was an extra "i" in Vigilant. I thought it was hilarious. Try saying "Vigiliant" out loud. "Vig-ili-ant". XD
I have an odd sense of humor. ♣ Deliera ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Ops 01:47, 6 April 2015 (CDT)

For sure, and I'd be glad to have her issue a statement! c.eganmanno@starbase118.net --Onewhoisseveral (talk) 10:49, 6 April 2015 (CDT)
