Backstory/Timeline
From a young age S'laa had always been her fathers favorite. Whilst growing up S'laa's natural aggression was tailored by her father who turned S'laa, along with her twin brother S'zanb, into a true warrior. S'laa often had conflicts with her brothers, as was to be expected amongst siblings, but was often sided by her father leading to a large amount of jalousie and aggression towards her, especially from S'zanb.
In 2377 S'laa joined star fleet as a Security Officer whilst her brothers followed in their fathers footsteps and joined the Gorn military. Although this was not what Vokt wanted of his prized daughter he accepted her wishes to battle tyranny across the known universe. This did however increase tensions between her and S'zanb culminating in a large scale fight between the two with S'laa leaving her twin in a critical state.
The height of S'laa and S'zanb's animosity reached its climax during the Gorn conflict of 2383. S'laa, against the wishes of her family, remained in service with Starfleet out of a seance of duty. During the conflict S'laa came face to face with her twin brother who saw this as an opportunity to rid himself of a rather large annoyance. S'znab opened fire on his sister with the weapon their father had handed down to him but subsequently missed. This enraged S'laa who, after a long brawl, put an end to her twin once and for all out of anger. She still carries the weapon her brother used as a reminder to trust no one. Especially family.
When news of the death of S'laa's brother at her own hand reached her family S'laa was shunned. S'laa made no attempt to make amends for her mistake and rather made sure to distance herself from her family as far as possible. S'laa remained in service with Starfleet until 2587 where she was wounded, during an explosion aboard the USS Tell, and needed to have the entirety of the right hand of her face reconstructed, the scars of which she still carries to this day.
Unable to re-acclimatise to civilian life S'laa chose to rejoin Starfleet after 4 years as a marine.
