| Tressa was not a planned child. Her parents were not planning on conceiving due to the overpopulation on Gideon. However when Chala found herself pregnant, both Odavor and Chala kept the child, treasuring life above all else. A short gestation later, Tressa was born.

| Tressa had an inert curiosity about the world around her from an early age. She was the child that brought home half trodden creatures from under the mass of bodies that was her home. This led to the inevitable encounter with a traveling merchant where Tressa bought a pair of tribbles. Needless to say she was not allowed to keep them or their offspring.

| When Tressa was 10 years of age she was given the opportunity to travel on her Aunt Kidora's J-Class freighter for a year; permitted she continue studying. The year had a lasting impression on Tressa, and after it was over she begged her parents to let her live with Kidora on the freighter. After a long discussion they allowed it.

| Tressa spent the rest of her teen life on the freighter. At the age of 18 she decided to apply at Starfleet Acadamy, and was granted entrance.
