Being born at the monastery of P'Fem was not something a normal Vulcan would have an issue with, but T'Nan did not like it one bit. From the beginning she had a curiosity streak that made her desire to learn about everything. The pursuit of logic was not as important as the pursuit of knowledge.


This lead to a few clashes with the monastery leadership, but both sides were happy when the time came that she could go and serve Star Fleet.  
This lead to a few clashes with the monastery leadership as they felt that logic was the only thing that was necessary in life, T'Nan had another opinion on that. For years she worked separate from her peers searching the Vulcan databases and ancient historical records for a precedence that she believed existed. This in the end led her to leave P'Fem knowing full well that she would never be offered admittance to the Vulcan Science Academy.
 
Wanting to continue her research in to the possibilities that a limited amount of emotion will not destroy the sense of logic, she joined Star Fleet hoping to find more data so she can bring it to the Vulcan High command and prove her theory was right.
