Background
Sel was born on the Federation Colony Arcadis to parents that belong to the V'Tosh Ka'Tur philosophical background. Growing up on a colony dedicated to artistic pursuits Sel turned more toward more scientific pursuits early in his life. When he discovered linguistics, through the literature and poetry of the different species he grew up surrounded by he found an interest that guided his learning. Likewise, there was a comfort in the practices of Kolinahr so he dedicated himself despite accepting his parent's rejection of those ideals.
In the academy he was introduced to boxing and uses it as an alternative to meditation.
