PERSONAL HISTORY

After being born on Trill, Emelie had the best education possible with an emphasis on science. She dreamt of becoming joined as did most other young trills. But after caring for casualties from an earthquake which occurred near the small boarding school where she lived, she found a new dream to become a doctor. More specifically, one in Starfleet. Once she graduated from secondary school, she stayed behind on Trill a few extra years, even after qualifying for Starfleet's academy, in order to up her chances to become a candidate to be joined and to explore some of her interests not strictly within the medical field, namely: linguistics and math.

On her first day at the academy, her younger brother stopped all of his contact with her because he believed that she should have pursued her wish to become joined with a symbiont. She is still saddened by this, but understands his reasons as a small disorder his body had eliminated his chances of being a candidate.

At the academy she worked hard and graduated from almost all her classes with higher than average marks. While she made no enemies at the academy, she didn't really make any new friends, which was the only thing she regretted about her stay there. That and her barely passing piloting skills.
