New page: Creation and Upkeep of Ship Histories
New Page
ILI
I can't edit the ILI list... Aenar are missing from the list, I've made a basic page for them
Thanks, I'll bear that in mind, although all I personaly have borrowed from Memory Alpha so far is the Aenar picture. - Jay 14:48, 13 Aug 2005 (CDT)
I did notice that and corrected as quickly as humanely possible - Jay 14:50, 13 Aug 2005 (CDT)
User Page
Sorry about that - will be keeping Pietmaximoff then. It didn't strike me until after I made the new UserName that I didn't really need it anyway. --Lt Pietro Maximoff 07:16, 16 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Training Area
Admiral, the tutorials section and the mission section should be separate, don't you think? Could we have a mission section too? (Varaan)
Parker and I had written up two new missions, long ago when we were talking about "spring cleaning" the missions area. We each had one run through and then the entire project got shelved. (Varaan)
Guide to USS Wallace
I had thought about that, but we probably need to get the DS17 guide in a respectable condition first... - Jay 17:14, 21 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Would you mind if I changed the pic, that's probably my least favourite of all the images on ST:Australia... - Jay 10:20, 9 February 2006 (CST)
- How does that look? I actually have the full version of this pic as my background on my PC :) - Jay 04:48, 11 February 2006 (CST)
I had to upload the image myself as it hadn't been done yet. The background is white, not transparent and the image is a jpg as I got a very blocky pic as a gif. - Jay 05:38, 14 February 2006 (CST)
Articles for deletion
I've added the delete template to 3 pages, 2 of them are part of my characters pages as I'm restructuring it and the other is one of the pages which I moved yesterday which you missed when you deleted the rest of the old Challenger NPC pages. Could you delete them please as I haven't got the capability to do it myself. Thanks - Jay 17:29, 18 February 2006 (CST)
Category:Articles to be Deleted; Now contains 2 articles which were wrongly named and 2 articles relating to my character which I've rewritten as subpages to my userpage and wish to move into the place of the old article. I'll move my sub-pages accross but I need the current pages deleted before I can do so. Could you please do this for me. Thanks - Jay 09:18, 13 March 2006 (CST)
:) Like the new link on your user page. Thanks for that. - Jay 02:59, 14 March 2006 (CST)
Saber Class
I was able to find some schematics from Daystrom that fit the mold. What do you think of the Arrow's motto?
Sweet! I didn't think that there was a deck layout for the starbase!

Intra-page linking
Admiral, I know it's possible to link to an outside web page, and it's possible to link to an internal wiki page, AND it's possible to link to an item/article within a wiki page by using the page name, a "#" and the article name. BUT, is it possible to link to a separate item on the same page (like further down the page, or to eliminate "see above" type stuff)? Varaan 23:06, 1 July 2006 (CDT)
- Okay. Say you've got a long page and in a paragraph you're writing you like to reference something that you're going to cover in it's own entry later on in the same page. If it was on another page you could link to it using [[Page Name#Article Name]]. But can you do it if the stuff you'd like to link to is on the SAME page as where you'd like to place the link? -Varaan 23:11, 1 July 2006 (CDT)
- Sure, when I tried it the stupid thing didn't work. Then you go and do it and it works fine. Make me feel inferior why dontcha! :) -Varaan 23:14, 1 July 2006 (CDT)
Re:Vulcans on Memory-Alpha
My only concern was that it would be visible enough for people to not get confused as to where to go for canon info. If it's small and off to the side...they might miss it. Though I guess the links in the text could help too. Some of those links (though they all say "Memory Alpha") actually link to different pages on MA depending on the topic my page is covering, though. Let's see what I can do. -Varaan 09:45, 2 July 2006 (CDT)
Re: Species
What? I missed something? Absurd! Ya, I think that they should probably be listed properly...for my sanity if not for any other reason. Of course, I thought they were complete. I must be tired or something. -Varaan 22:55, 2 July 2006 (CDT)
- Nope, that's exactly how I want it. I hate having the side menus BESIDE each other. They should be stacked so that the information data that the person is there to read is available. That works out fine, sir. Thanks. -Varaan 15:06, 3 July 2006 (CDT)
Redirects to MA
They aren't working properly. I only get the redirect text and thus have to click the link to go to the site so there may as well be a brief blurb with a link - Lt.JG Salak; Chief Engineer, USS Independence 10:15, 8 July 2006 (CDT)
- Thanks :) - Lt.JG Salak; Chief Engineer, USS Independence 06:36, 10 July 2006 (CDT)
Deletion (again)
There is a photo of Utopia Planetia marked for deletion and also Cody, David as the characters bio page was started again at Cody, David S. which in turn has been moved to Cody, David Scott. - Lt.JG Salak Talk 12:37, 20 September 2006 (CDT)
re:sysop
I'll try not to... Thanks :) - Lt.JG Salak Talk 19:56, 1 November 2006 (CST)
Server Time
Is it just me or is it running 12 hours fast? - Lt.JG Salak Talk 23:04, 3 November 2006 (CST)
- Yeah, but I've had to tell it to set at -12 hours to be showing GMT, which is UTC. The default time seems to be GMT+12 - Lt.JG Salak Talk 10:12, 4 November 2006 (CST)
- Ok, it seems fine now... Thanks - Lt.JG Salak Talk 13:00, 4 November 2006 (CST)
THI & the Director
Would it be safe to say, then, that THI is an organization? I thought it was an actual Institute, which is why I classed them as a university. And I thought that SCEPTRE and the THI was associated. My bad. -Varaan 07:19, 28 November 2006 (CST)
Any decision re:Connie template yet? Just curious if you'd got a reply and come to an agreement or decision? - Lt.JG Salak Talk 11:45, 11 December 2006 (CST)
Characters
Okay, I think that I've finally categorized all the "beings" on the wiki. Now's the time to do everything else. :) -Varaan 13:00, 11 December 2006 (CST)
Uniformity
I'd left it for a while but I've just put the Connie nav template back in line with the rest of the fleet. I hadn't heard anything for a while and thus don't know if Rocar and yourself have agreed anything on this. - Lt.JG Salak Talk 21:41, 4 January 2007 (CST)
in all seriousness...
Geez, I wish that some people could be more serious with their time here. Two examples - K'Bob. And the second one I'm not sure if we should delete or what - Loner.
-Varaan 09:59, 26 February 2007 (CST)
A First?
Is that the first time an Admins character page has been vandalised? Just reverted a partial blanking of Salak and blocked the user who did it, that was his only edit. Part of me wants to protect the page but that would be against the general ideals of a wiki, surely? - JayTalk 06:02, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
New Races
Hello. I changed those races to reflect the following categories like you asked me to. While I did add a couple of them to the FTU listing, most of them were already their but with no information. I just tried to flesh them out into useable races with a description and a few details.
- Category:Non-Reviewed Species
- Category:Non-Canon Species
- What about races listed in any of the Star Trek novels. How should they be added to the Wikki list for races.
- I just read the description of the Non-Canon Species - As I understand that includes all races listed in novels.
- Also I have been doing some work at adding a few things to a few locations on the Wikki. These being the USS Triumphant Master Crew List, DS17 station layout, FTU member races. I have been doing these additions with the hopes that they will add to the playability of the site and be useful to others. Was I in error to do this??

Zhal
Ok, I did skim it, but as I am having PC problems, I just did the page as quick as I could. :P Sorry aboyt that, FAdm Wolf.
Mission Archives for Prior / Older Ships
I remember you told me you held onto the early sims. If you want to, we could reconstitute groups for archival only. DCody 18:51, 22 September 2007 (CDT)
Vandal
I've been checking periodically all day expecting them to come back... No ways beyond that currently being done to stop them are there? Does seem to be a bot given the 4 similar accounts doing the same thing in less than 48 hours. - Lt.JG SalakTalk 19:32, 1 October 2007 (CDT)
- Not really worried, just a bit annoyed by the vandalism. - Lt.JG SalakTalk 08:46, 2 October 2007 (CDT)
Re:Trek Crash Course
Absolutely. Should I break the "third wall", as in should I start OOC and introduce them to the IC world of Trek? Or try to stay IC and have it be more like a really simple history lesson? -Varaan 07:54, 9 October 2007 (CDT)
Good Wiki Bio
I didn't receive the message that you wanted to use the Lily bio as an example (with the one caveat) until today, though I've been informed about all other discussions on any page I've created.... Anyway, if you'd still like to use the page as an example, I've updated it with the information you requested, so feel free. -Onewhoisseveral 18:19, 16 December 2007 (CST)
Archiving?
Sorry it took me so long to get back to this-
Some of the very old AOL chat sims I did manage to save are on 3.5 or 5.25 discs (those that have survived through the many moves) that I don't have a drive for anymore :oP, but it was in reference to Egroups, since we were there before Yahoo took it over. *chuckles* I have some of our first stuff... not all of it (that computer bit it when we went to Egroups).
Any case, I don't know if you saved the posts from the mid 90s in our transition from chat to Egroups (prior to it becoming YGroups), but if you did, while it may be somewhat of a slow process, we could repost the older sim posts into a archival only YGroups. It would just take a bit of time DCody 03:03, 28 December 2007 (CST)
I'd love to read some of those old sims if you can rescue them and put them somewhere. Good luck with this mini-project.
Rocar 07:25, 30 December 2007 (CST)
I know the feeling. I hope all my old floppies haven't corrupted. I'd say it's your call if you want to set somthing up and transpo the Ranger stuff into an archival YGroups. Brian might love seeing some of that- DCody 16:11, 1 January 2008 (CST)

Intrepid class schematics
I'm not sure what I'm thinking, but I understand what Canreb is after. There's approximately 15 articles on different ship areas on the Intrepid Class, which is why I'm leaning toward something in the neighborhood of an Intrepid-Class schematics nav panel so the Eagle's ship nav template doesn't have to carry all that. We usually put in a link on a given ship nav, not 15 of 'em! -lol DCody 00:25, 11 January 2008 (CST)
StarFleet vs Starfleet
Not that this is a big deal, but what's with your obsession with capitalizing the "f" in Starfleet, when in canon it is spelled with a lowercase "f". Don't believe me? Check out any and all canon material including Memory Alpha and Wikipedia. :) -Varaan 17:45, 12 January 2008 (CST)
- To be honest, I prefer a small F myself as in my opinion, the capital F in the middle is ugly... Just my 2p - Lt.JG SalakTalk 10:51, 13 January 2008 (CST)
- Heehee, fair enough. :) - Lt.JG SalakTalk 12:29, 13 January 2008 (CST)
Boiler plates
On Wikipedia, there's a way of making templates which hide sections, e.g. wp:Template:Template group, wp:Wikipedia:NavFrame. Would it be possible to do such with this wiki with a view to combining all the fleet boilers (Template:118Fleet, Template:118FleetTrain, Template:118LoD, Template:118Inactive & any reworking of Template:118Attached) into one, such that you could open whichever bit you like and not have to go to the ship histories page to get to a ship which isn't in the same category? My knowledge of coding is poor at best and I know nothing really about Javascript, I struggle enough with html tbh. - Lt.JG SalakTalk 14:19, 13 January 2008 (CST)
- Um, okay. I tried briefly on Sunday but the edit, view, discuss, show/hide buttons didn't even show up, let alone work, so there is some coding missing. I'll look into it more when I've time but could take a while to work out what I need to copy across. - Lt.JG SalakTalk 05:38, 15 January 2008 (CST)
- Reading all this code is giving me a headache, lol. Are we using Version 1.6? I'm guessing cos I've used <noinclude> on templates on here before, but can't find a version number on the main page, etc... - Lt.JG SalakTalk 09:20, 15 January 2008 (CST)
- Found it under the Special pages. 1.10.0. Just stray thought but the math function has never worked on here has it? Can't think of how we'd use it hough, just it pops up in the sandbox. - Lt.JG SalakTalk 09:26, 15 January 2008 (CST)
- Just stumbled upon http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Collapsing. The pages I've just added are titled exactly as on wikipedia, so not sure why it still isn't working. Not given up yet, might leave it for today though. - Lt.JG SalakTalk 10:30, 15 January 2008 (CST)

118Attached
Only cos I started adding Runabouts for completeness and they have runabouts attached to them. Can't say I'm happy with it myself either... - Lt.JG SalakTalk 05:35, 15 January 2008 (CST)
