Mission

Act 1

The crew has split up into three different groups. Commodore Oddas, Commander Falt and Lt.Commander Williams meets with the Prime Bekanar'Klan in order to understand the real needs of the group. Commander DeVeau and Liuetenant Vahin are welcomed by Lat'ika, a Jem'Hadar doctor, and are inspecting the medical facilities of the village. Meanwhile Lt.Commander Kettick, Lieutenant Drex and Ensign Tanner are visiting the engineering facilities with Nomot, a Jem'Hadar engineer.

- Administrative facilities -

Oddas, Falt and Williams beam down to met Bekanar'Klan, the Prime of the Colony. They are informed of some problems affecting the crops, so Williams moves to collect sample of soil in the area. He discovers a buried huge object and asks Oddas and Falt to reach him to show his discoveries and interrogate the Prime about it.

On the way to the field, Lukin Zorkal , a Cardassian Ambassador, joins the group and starts a private conversation with Commodore Oddas about the Jem'Hadar presence on the Ring.

Meanwhile, Bekanar'Klan explains they do not know much about the alien object, but since it seems harmless, he gave order to bury it.

- Medical facilities -

Vahin and DeVeau meet with a Jem'Hadar doctor, Lat'ika, who shows them around the medical facilities. Though the officers offer help, Lat'ika seems hesitant at first. When asking about a closed door they passed, they find out it's the nursery and they will be allowed to see the young ones as they emerge. Vahin requests the ability to scan members of the settlement in order to learn more about Jem'Hadar physiology and he gains permission. When they children come into the infirmary, he asks if he can scan them as well and is allowed to do so.

They discover one of the four children, Ubroni, doesn't have the genetic mutuation that renders ketracel-white unecessary. Concerned by this, they resolve to see if they can find out what's preventing the mutation. DeVeau suggests they bring in Doctor Kherys Harper while she checks in with Oddas, and she leaves the other two officers to continue to brainstorm how to solve the problem.

- Engineering facilities -

Accompanied by a Jem'Hadar technician, Kettick, Drex and Tanner visit the colony's main reactor. The former soldiers have dismantled an engine from one of their ships and adapted it to power all the colony's facilities. Beneath the floor where it rests is a large room, the work of the former inhabitants of the biotope. As the four men descend to inspect the bunker, they find themselves suddenly trapped when the entrance hatch unexpectedly closes.

They have a few hours before the oxygen concentration drops to insufficient levels and the two engineers decide to send a pulse signal through the distribution pipes. While Tanner works on the conduits, Drex analyses the inscriptions found by Kettick, but accidentally triggers something that opens a trap door and the Denobulan falls into a new underground chamber.

After sending out the sos message, Kettick and Tanner decides to leave Nomot in the upper room to wait for the rescue team, and explore the underground space found by Drex. The room is dark but they discover a strange pillar. When Drex

- USS Eagle -

Lieutenant JG Porus arrives at the USS Eagle in search of Lt. Commander Alexander Williams, whose life he has sworn to protect. When he meets Commander Diata, who has command of the bridge while Oddas and Falt are at the settlement, who has no idea who Williams, he angrily demands she finds out. Instead, she pulls rank and chastises him, declaring she will make a note on his record, orders him to take the tactical station. A Cardassian ship arrives and Ambassador Lukin Zorkal wishes to see the Commodore, then finding out she is down at the settlement, says he will find her personally. Diata and Porus keep a close watch on the Cardassian ship as the Ambassador beams down to the settlement.

Act 2

- Fields -

Interested in seeing the colony for himself, the Prime begins a tour and Lt. Commander Alexander Williams joins them. They view the fields and discover that large dragonlike beasts prey upon the bovine creatures the Jem'Hadar raise for food which is why there is a tower with canons located nearby. As they talk, some of the beasts appear and head for the herd, but there are no guards because they are on the other side of the colony. Surprising both of the others, Zorkal takes initiative to work the canons and protect the Jem'Hadar's herd and Williams also agrees to help. Inside the tower are three terminals, each requiring a person to work, and all three are required for the entire system to function properly. They down one, but the second one shot down lands on some sort of wire that cuts off the power to Williams' terminal.

- Medical facilities -

Ensign Kherys Harper joins Lat'ika and Doctor Vahin to try and figure out a solution to the problem. Vahin insists they can't use gene therapy and looks for another reason as to why the mutation is missing some of the children. They check out the nursery, but find nothing wrong with any of the chambers. When Lat'ika tells them that only he, the Prime, and another Jem'Hadar by the name of Zirik’mal are the only ones who have access, Vahin asks to visit with him. The group heads out and approach a house, but only find Jem'Hadar blood inside. Concerned, Harper asks where Zirik'mal was last scene and where he was supposed to be at that time.

- USS Eagle-Science Lab -

Alora joins Sofia Falt on the ship to help her find out what is causing the crops to fail. When a scan doesn't narrow down possibilities enough. The two talk about Tomas as they work, but then Sofia finds something that indicates the problem isn't naturally occurring.

- USS Eagle-Bridge -

Ensign Kenzie West arrives and joins as a brand new officer straight from the Academy. Diata puts her on coms, and as the trio continue to monitor, Diata notices a strange signal. West points out a signal originates from the planet, while Williams notes the Cardassian ship has transmitted a message, but Diata finds another and can not determine the origin.
