Briefbio

Karen, born and raised in Betazed, came into the world on July 31st, 2368, in the city of Rixx, which is home to the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, located on the planet of Betazed. Her parents, Robert Stendhal and Sasha, met during their university years. Her mother pursued a career as a teacher, while her father followed his passion for music. Karen has a younger brother named Tom Stendhal.

With round, captivating blue eyes that resemble precious gems and a mane of silky, wavy, golden hair that cascades down her back, Karen possesses striking features. She stands at an average height and boasts a curvy physique, complementing her light tan complexion.

Karen's human origins, along with her distinctive eye and hair colors, can be traced back to her grandfather, Julien Stendhal, who hailed from Earth, specifically France.

Growing up, Karen enjoyed a tranquil and pleasant childhood in the vicinity of Lake Mitzawal, where her family had relocated. During this time, she developed a natural aptitude for healing and assisting others. Her passion for the arts and music was also evident, and she played a pivotal role in guiding her brother, Tom, to enroll in an art school. Together, they even organized several art exhibitions.

Young Karen with her tutor Doctor Roger Reventlov

When she was a teenager, she spent some time with a family friend named Roger Reventlov. With her parents' consent, Roger brought Karen along as a civilian on the spaceship where he served as a doctor for a period of six months. This experience deeply resonated with her, inspiring her to pursue a path in medicine and psychology.

Subsequently, Karen enrolled in the University of Rixx, where she studied both medicine and psychology. Initially, she contemplated working at the local hospital in Rixx upon graduation. However, Roger Reventlov, who held a special place in Karen's life akin to that of an uncle, encouraged her to consider joining Starfleet. Trusting his guidance, Karen followed his advice and embarked on her journey at the academy.

Fresh out of the Academy, Karen is assigned to the USS Columbia as a Counselor. 239604

After graduating from the Academy, Karen embarked on her first assignment aboard the USS Columbia as a Counselor. In this role, she gained her initial experience as a Starfleet officer.

Regrettably, during a mission to the Esper Colony known as 'Safe Harbour,' the USS Columbia faced a tragic fate due to an attack by the Ya-Grhans.

Transfer to SB 118. 239610

Following this devastating event, Karen was reassigned to Starbase 118, initially serving as a medical officer. Then, in 2397, when the Denobulan Counselor Malko decided to depart from the station, Karen reclaimed her position as a counselor.

Her office on the station bore a striking resemblance to her office aboard the USS Columbia, or at least that's how she envisioned it. It featured a spacious sofa alongside a smaller one with a tea table, a few chairs, and a prominent holographic painting depicting the serene pink lake of Mitzawal adorned with the blossoming cherry trees of happiness. In one corner, a desk was neatly arranged, adorned with numerous datapads.

LOA period. 239709 - 240009

Counselor Karen Sthendal of Starbase 118 had always been a dedicated and compassionate member of the crew. Her empathy and commitment to her role had made her an invaluable asset to the starbase. However, in stardate 239709.22 her life took an unexpected turn when she contracted a rare and mysterious alien disease during a diplomatic mission to an uncharted planet.

The disease presented itself with unusual symptoms that baffled the medical team on the starbase. It became clear that traditional treatments wouldn't work, and Karen's condition deteriorated rapidly. In a desperate bid to save her life, the medical team decided to place her in a stasis chamber and transferred back to Betazed, a highly experimental procedure that had never been attempted before.

For nearly two years, Karen remained in stasis, her body suspended in a state of suspended animation while the medical team worked tirelessly to find a cure. Her absence was deeply felt on Starfleet, and her colleagues, friends, and especially her patients missed her presence and guidance.

After what felt like an eternity, the medical team made a breakthrough. They discovered a treatment that could counteract the effects of the alien disease, albeit slowly. With cautious optimism, they began the long process of reviving Karen from her induced coma.

Karen's recovery was a gradual and arduous journey. She spent almost an entire year in a state of semi-consciousness as the treatment slowly but steadily reversed the damage done by the disease. It was a period of intense physical and emotional challenges for her, as she had to relearn basic skills and cope with the overwhelming sense of disorientation.

Throughout this challenging time, Karen's resilience and determination shone brightly. She drew strength from her desire to return to her role as a counselor and help others as she had been helped. The support of her , family, friends and colleagues played a crucial role in her recovery.

Finally, after nine months of slow but steady progress, Karen regained her full consciousness and physical strength and she was able to travel back to earth to visit her grandad Julien Stendhal to rest at Chateau Stendhal.

After enduring this challenging period, Karen Stendhal decided to rejoin Starfleet Academy.

Reassigned to the role of Counselor of SB 118 OPS. 240009

After Karen Stendhal returned to active duty on Starbase 118 in 240009, her presence was met with a mixture of relief and joy from her colleagues and friends. Upon her reinstatement, Karen wasted no time in reacquainting herself with her duties as a counselor. Despite the challenges she faced during her absence, she approached her role with renewed vigor and a deepened sense of empathy. Her experiences during her recovery had only strengthened her resolve to help others navigate their own struggles and find healing.

Karen's return also brought a sense of stability and continuity to the counseling department on Starbase 118. Her expertise and compassionate approach were invaluable assets to the station's crew, providing much-needed support and guidance during their missions and personal challenges.

In the months leading up to her eventual transfer to the USS Octavia E Butler, Karen immersed herself fully in her work, forging meaningful connections with her fellow officers and offering her assistance wherever it was needed.

Transfer to the USS Octavia E Butler. 240102

Karen Stendhal's transfer from Starbase 118 to the USS Octavia marked a pivotal moment in her career within Starfleet. With a mixture of excitement and apprehension, she embarked on this new chapter, leaving behind the familiar surroundings of the starbase for the uncharted territory of the Octavia.

The transfer represented more than just a change in location; it symbolized a fresh opportunity for growth and exploration. As she bid farewell to her colleagues and friends at Starbase 118, Karen felt a sense of nostalgia. Upon arriving at her new assignment, Karen approached her duties with enthusiasm, eager to make a positive impact within her new crew and contribute to the ship's mission.

Chateau Stendhal

Chateau Stendhal is a picturesque and charming vineyard farmhouse nestled in the heart of the idyllic wine country on Earth. Passed down through generations, it is a place of great significance and sentimental value for the Stendhal family, particularly for Julien Stendhal, the beloved grandfather of Counselor Karen Stendhal from Starbase 118.

Exterior: The farmhouse is an elegant fusion of rustic and timeless architecture. Its warm, golden stone walls have weathered gracefully over the years, giving it a sense of history and character. A well-manicured garden surrounds the house, bursting with colorful flowers, fragrant herbs, and neatly trimmed hedges. A picturesque cobblestone pathway leads from the garden to a charming wooden gate adorned with a wrought-iron sign that reads "Chateau Stendhal."

Vineyards: The centerpiece of Chateau Stendhal is its sprawling vineyard, stretching as far as the eye can see. Rows upon rows of lush grapevines, heavy with plump, sun-kissed grapes, cover the gently rolling hills surrounding the farmhouse. The vineyard produces a variety of grapes, each carefully tended to by generations of Stendhal family vintners, ensuring the finest quality wines.

Interior: Inside the farmhouse, the ambiance is cozy and inviting. The living room features exposed wooden beams and a large stone fireplace, giving it a warm and rustic feel. Antique furniture, passed down through the family, adds a touch of history to the decor. The dining area is the heart of the home, with a long, weathered oak table where family gatherings and celebrations take place. The kitchen is well-equipped, often filled with the aromas of homemade meals and freshly baked bread.

Winery: Connected to the farmhouse is a state-of-the-art winery where the magic of winemaking happens. Large oak barrels, some of them older than Karen herself, line the walls, imparting their rich, woody notes to the wines. The winery is a place where the Stendhal family tradition of winemaking thrives, and where Julien's expertise has been passed down to the younger generations.

Scenic Views: Chateau Stendhal boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding vine-covered hills, especially during the harvest season when the grapevines are resplendent with autumn colors. Sunsets over the vineyards are a daily spectacle, casting a warm, golden glow over the entire property.

Legacy: For the Stendhal family, Chateau Stendhal is more than just a vineyard; it's a symbol of their heritage, their love for winemaking, and the enduring bond that ties generations together. Julien Stendhal's dedication to the vineyard and the love he instilled in his family for the art of winemaking has made Chateau Stendhal a place of joy, unity, and cherished memories. It continues to be a gathering place for family members, a source of inspiration, and a testament to the enduring legacy of the Stendhal name.
