History

New Boston has had it's share of interesting visitors. Positioned in an out of the way sector, the colony made an ideal location for a variety of illicit activities. Mostly cargo transfers of illegal or contraband goods, but darker activities were not unheard of. In the wake of the poverty that followed the economic problems after the war, many locals joined in on this trade out of necessity. The Logan family was no exception. The family had a ship, and were willing to move any cargo for the right price, though mostly ferrying between ships. They did well enough for themselves to afford to grease the palms of the right officer and send their only son to Starfleet Academy where his natural intelligence could find a more positive path than they were able to offer him. Frank was not thrilled to go, but it did have opportunities to get off world, and perhaps make a better life for his family through whatever means he could acquire.

Starfleet Career

Francis has not exactly endeared himself to Starfleet, and the more freewheeling ways of New Boston have somehow never left him able to to fit in well. Logan has been moved from assignment to assignment, usually to get him out from under someone's command who has grown tired of his attitude, despite his work being technically flawless. Usually the sign of that coming is him getting stuck on long cargo transfer flights. To date, he has stayed nowhere much longer than six months. This new assignment will either reform him, or else likely be his last.

Personality Profile

Logan has been known to have a few colorful conversations with superiors, most of which have come about when he disagrees with something. Most of his reviews indicate he has potential to succeed, if only he would take things more seriously. Being lax on formality is his major weak point, but he is generally friendly enough about it that most forgive him for it readily. He follows orders ultimately but can tend towards sarcastic comments.

Interests and Special Skills

In addition to being quite technically minded, he has an interest in small ship design and piloting, including racing craft and fighters. He has top marks as a shuttle and small vessel pilot in addition to his very solid track record with engineering work. He enjoys a good drink, risky card or dice games, and enjoying life in general. He discovered something called cartoons while on Earth at the Academy, and has a personal collection.
