Template:Pernipia Gamma

Planetary Location

Location: Trinity Sector, on the border of the neutral zone in unclaimed space.

Distance to Known Landmark: The Pernipia Gamma system is roughly equidistant to both the Romulan Nequencia system and the Klingon H'Atoria system, 3 days at maximum warp from either one. It is roughly 6 days warp out from Starbase 118.

Nearby Locations of Interest: It stays on the bleeding edge of the neutral zone, carefully unclaimed by any side.

Planetary Classification:

Classification: Class M, Terrestrial

Atmospheric Analysis: Pernipia Gamma IV has a high oxygen saturation, breathable for most lifeforms, including all known iron based, copper based and cobalt based blood species.

Satellites/Space Stations

Satellites Pernipia Gamma has two lifeless satellites:

Iana - Larger of the two satellites, has a regular orbit and enough gravitational presence to affect tides

Keina - Smaller of the two satellites, has an irregular orbit. Scientists postulate it was once a rogue asteroid that was pulled in by the planet's gravitational field.

Land/Water Ratio

45%/65% - Pernipia Gamma IV is lush, water-rich and teeming with life.

It has three major continents and two major oceans with countless freshwater bodies and rivers crossing the major landmasses.

Mineralogy - Pernipia Gamma IV has large deposits of kelbonite, as well as considerable amounts of copper, magnesium, iridium, tungsten and lead. None of the resources on this planet have previously been deemed of enough worth to claim it, so it remains largely untouched.

Climate

Pernipia Gamma IV displays a wide range of climates, dependent on the distance from the equator. Most areas of the planet are seasonal, displaying heavy rans or snow in the winter months and hot, humid summers.

Native Life

Scans show an abundance of animal and plant life forms on Pernipia Gamma IV. No intelligent species have been located.

History

Pernipia Gamma IV has never been colonized. Due to its location precariously between empires, it has been largely avoided by most of the major powers in the area. As the delineation of the neutral zone has shifted with political changes it now falls in Federation territory. It's largely unexplored nature leaves many questions...
