"Anarchy is not merely a condition but a state of mind."
a Regrunion proverb.
The Reegrunion are a species that seems to have become so use to the chaotic, anarchy that is constantly active around them that they seem to take it for granted as being normal.

History

They have a long history of social upheaval, tyranny, despotism, war, anarchy, rebellion and conflict. In fact they have never really had any true period of peace at any time with in their recorded history.

Even now there are certain factions that disagree with the current leadership on the largest continent which is also at war with the 2nd largest political faction on the planet.

Intermixed with all of this is the occasional terrorist attack, rebellion, military coup, assassination and just general overall chaotic disruption that results in the deaths of innocent civilians and pointless fiery slogans about freedom, equality or any of a dozen other possible motivations for civil disobedience.

Government

Currently they have 3 different governments and a few unrecognized political factions that rules over the majority of the population and planet. These currently include a Dictator for life, a High Vazier and a fanatical, determined semi religious, political minority that dominates a much larger civilian population.

Civil unrest, revolutions, infighting, assassinations, terrorists, minority factions and other unusual social conditions makes the political climate not only dangerous but explosive as anything can and often does happen.

Description

They have grayish purple skin with many wrinkles. Their dark eyes are deep sunk and their nose is very prominent and merges with their cheekbones and eyebrows.

Physiology

As with most intelligent humanoid species they have a very complex system with specialized organs, and unique hormones, chemicals and enzymes. Their eyes can adjust to and function in higher/brighter levels of light. They also have a very unique sense of smell. One that allows them to detect and comprehend subtle differences in aromas.

Psychology

They have a high tolerance to violence and bloodshed, having grown up in a society where sudden acts of violence are the norm. As a result many other species consider them to be rather cold blooded when it comes to the misery and agony of others suffering.

Religion

They have dozens of different sects, religious factions and fanatical sub-groups.

Mythology

Not much remains to them from their early history. A vast majority of this data has been destroyed.

Society

They have a very chaotic society with few periods to true peaceful safety. As a result the majority of the population tends to remain in a constant state of readiness for when the next bad thing happens. It is everyone for themselves and the crime rate is astronomic across most of their world.

Culture

While this is not a very popular aspect of their society they do tend to enjoy music of all kinds but have not really developed any love for any other form of art. This seems to be mainly due to the long held tradition of vandals, criminals, terrorists or other malcontents frequently targeting prominent visual targets for attack.

Customs

Strangers always greet others cautiously. Normally with a weapon in one hand and their eyes scanning the area for any danger. Trust is one of the hardest things for them to do and once someone has earned that trust it is normally for life.

Technology

While they do have warp capability and other advanced technology they are not generally considered to be very advanced. In fact the least advanced member world in the Federation is easily far superior to them when it comes to their technological abilities.

Economy

They will trade with anyone for anything. For the most part they do not seem to have any morals or scruples and have been known to deal in illegal weapons, narcotics, slaves and other outlawed technologies and substances.

As a result the Federation has requested that all member worlds avoid any interaction with them and has passed a by-law that has placed a ban on all trade or commercial deals with them.

Military

They do not really have much in the way of a space fleet. In fact over 90% of all their ships are privately owned and armed merchant ships. On the other hand each and every political faction on the planet seems to have their own armed soldiers. In fact many of these are well equipped, well trained and professional in their abilities. The rest and this would be the majority are simply ruthless brutes willing to kill and destroy to achieve their aims.

Federation Intelligence Files

Illegal arms trader Plix Tixiplik was a Reegrunion who was among those shown on the wanted posters in Constable Odo's security office aboard Deep Space 9. Nog thought the name was odd.

The Federation maintains a firm ban on trade with them and discourages any and all travel to their homeworld as it is considered to be extremely dangerous. In fact a study has shown that approximately 87% of all visitors are the victim of some kind of crime and that 56% of those are the victim of a violent crime.
