The USS Euphrates was a Starfleet vessel assigned to deliver medical supplies to New Atlantis, a planet in Sector 332. The vessel was presumed lost with all hands, with it's final transmission coming from Sector 332 on 16th March 2379.
The cargo hauler Northwind discovered a vessel, believed to be the Euphrates, adrift at the edge of the Verona Nebula in nearby Sector 301, a sector with a history including T'lithian attacks. The discovery led to the Federation Council dispatching the USS Independence-A to investigate in September 2384.
