Commodore Ossa V'Airu, assigned to extended service in the Gamma Quadrant circa 2398-2399. Ossa V'Airu is an officer of the Federation Starfleet, currently assigned as the regional supervisor of the Gamma Flotilla Expeditionary Task Force, in which position she is headquartered aboard Deep Space 14. She served as a tactical officer and an operations officer early in her career, and she served as a starship commander with the Eighth Fleet during the Dominion War. V'Airu appears to be fully Vulcan at first glance, though her black Betazoid eyes give her heritage away. Following her parents' example, she is not a follower of Surak and practices little traditional Vulcan philosophy, and so identifies as V'tosh ka'tur. Commodore V'Airu serves as the official Starfleet liaison to the United Dominion of Planets (UDP), an emerging power in the Gamma Quadrant created by former Dominion thralls and allies in an attempt to emulate the Federation. She was raised on Betazed as V'tosh ka'tur, as was her mother. Ossa was assigned as a tactical cadet to the Nebula class Tar'Hana in 2360 and was later promoted to ensign aboard the same ship, after completing her shipboard rotation. She requested and was granted further service as an officer on Tar'Hana. She served as an ensign in the tactical department there for three years before being promoted to lieutenant, junior grade.
