The Colonies was the name given to a region of the Valcarian Imperial space between the Core Worlds and the Outlying Territories. It was among the first areas outside the Core to be colonised, some before the establishment of the Valcarian Republic, and many worlds in the Colonies were founding members. The worlds here are typically heavily populated, industrialized, and have cultures as established as the Core Worlds.

During Emperor Altharra's reign, the Empire has been very forceful in controlling the Colonies, and as a result anti-Imperial support among non-Valcarians is gaining quickly there.
