| The Intelligent Lifeform Index (ILI) lists all sentient species known in the StarBase 118 universe. For playability purposes, species are designated as either Permitted, Restricted, or Forbidden. |

Playability Designation
The playability designation is the marker for which species can be used as primary characters in SIM. There are four basic markers:
