The '''Adovans''' are a relatively unknown species, thanks to their homeworld's location deep within the [[Menthar Corridor]].

Around the late twenty-first century, the Adovans began a systematic genocide against a subset of their population, known as "deviants," using biological weapons that were specifically designed to target the supposed gene markers of those who exhibited the deviancy.<ref>[http://sims.starbase118.net/posts/1997147 ''Sins of the Past''], {{USS|Invicta}}, SD 239306.05</ref>

The Adovans were encountered when their government body began to seek off-world alliances to assist them with moving away from their "bloody" past in 2393 - approximately three hundred years earlier, they committed genocide against a racial minority. As such, the Adovans of today wished to rid their world of the weapons used against the minority.[1]

Upon further enquiry by the attending Starfleet crew, it was revealed that "deviants" was a term used to describe telepaths.[2] It is said that the ability to read ones thoughts on Adova caused disturbance and civil war among the people[3], leading to the use of a virus to curb the telepathic gene. Known as the Clensing Initiative, the biological weapon was not perfect nor precise, targeting not just the telepathic gene. Contiguous genetic sequences and biosimilar molecules were also affected, resulting in mutations in the individuals affected - Adovans rendered non-functional members of society developed fatal cardiac and respiratory abnormalities, among other things, and passed these mutations down to subsequent generations.[4] With the assistance of the Starfleet crew, the weapons are finally disposed of, allowing for the Adovan people to begin moving on from their brutal history.

Government

The Adovans are governed by a ruling council, who elect a leader known as the Arc of the World. Historically, the Adovans once had a position of supreme leadership known as chancellor.

Description

Though humanoid, Adovans differ somewhat in comparison to Terrans. An Adovan's ear features triple lobes, their hair only a single shade of ebony. Rather than the "standard" five digits on each hand, Adovans have six.[5] Eye colours seem to shift, dependent on which angle the light was hitting them.[6]

Starfleet Intelligence Files

Plans to assist the Adovans in ridding their planet of a genocidal virus go wayward when drones containing the virus activate within a facility that holds members of the USS Invicta's crew - which included many telepaths. So to avoid theirs being immediately retrieved from harm, a Starfleet dampening emitter and spacial attack drones were employed by Titus Vassily and an Adovan coup, but the crew manage to disable it. The coup led by a rival Adovan faction is apprehended, but Vassily escapes.
