Tyler Kelly was born to Dana Ann Kelly in 2363 at Antista Medical Center in the Utopia Planitia Colony, Mars. His mother worked at a supply plant manufacturing parts for the Federation shipyards located there. Kelly's father (and consequently his precise genetic heritage) are unknown, but he is presumed to be full Terran. Kelly's mother worked hard to support the two, often working long hours and leaving him at home with little supervision when he was not at school. Left to his own devices Kelly spent roughtly equal time studying and causing trouble around the residential sector of the colony. He maintained good grades all through grade school, despite developing something of a reputation for his rebellious attitude.
Born in 2368 on Luna to Reyna Bentley, a dedicated medical doctor in the bustling city New Vegas, and Vostro Dakora, a Federation Ambassador stationed in Alvania. While her parents were never married and eventually went their separate ways, their respective professions left a lasting imprint on Adara's upbringing.


After Graduating, and much consideration, he decided to apply to Starfleet Academy. Though many openly doubted that Kelly would be able to successfully conform to such a rigid organization. Having spent his whole life watching the Starfleet ships come and go from the Utopia shipyards with fascination, it seemed like it only made sense for him to try.  
Adara's early years unfolded against the backdrop of the Dominion occupation of Betazed. However, her mother's decision to reside on Luna during this tumultuous period shielded her from the direct horrors of the invasion. It was her older brothers, Hanek and Talos, who experienced the emotional scars of Betazed's occupation more intensely.


Kelly was accepted into Starfleet Academy in the Fall of 2381, despite his numerous disciplinary notations his academic achievements proved sufficient. Kelly adapted quite well to Academy life and managed to avoid major complications. Though some of his professors claim that he sometimes "Purposely tested the limits of authority within microns of breaking." Despite this, no one could argue with his academic results, his propensity for calculated risk had become his trademark and he managed to graduate in the upper-percentages of his class with a true double-major in Engineering and Advanced Tactical Theory in only 6 years.
Throughout her childhood, Adara exhibited an innate curiosity about the world around her. Despite struggling to connect with her peers, she excelled academically, setting herself apart from her brothers, for whom studying and book-learning did not come as easily.

Balancing her duties with a relentless pursuit of academic excellence, she dedicated herself to research, experiments, and scholarly pursuits. Adara might be considered quirky to some, but she would balk at that description. On duty, she has a specific way of doing things that focuses on efficiency before diplomacy. This often causes others to view her as cold or disconnected. While she enjoys the company of others, she can also be quite happy on her own, pouring over the latest discoveries in the Federation Science Journals or occasionally indulging in some trashy Betazoid psychodrama novel. Romantically, she has had a few of relationships, only one that she would consider ''serious''. In her experience, intra-ship romances cause too many complications when they inevitably implode. She now avoids them when possible.
