The USS Artemis is an Odyssey class starship, one of the newest classes of starship commissioned by Starfleet and touted as the pinnacle of Federation starship design. The Artemis and her sister ships are the largest vessels ever constructed by Starfleet. Her massive size makes her very resilient, but her turn rate is reduced by her bulk. Designed as an extreme long-range vessel, the Artemis can operate for long periods of time away from support.

The Artemis is a cargo transport variant, with her secondary hull hollowed out so that she can carry massive payloads.

In 2393, the Artemis carried the USS Venture in its cargo hold, delivering it to the Midway Repair Facility to be made spaceworthy by the crew of the USS Invicta for inclusion in the Parade of Ships for the Khitomer Centennial celebrations.

In late 2395, the Artemis, under the command of Captain Felicia Nickson, was assigned to a classified mission by Starfleet Command, departing from Deep Space 3. However, during this mission, the ship was destroyed
