Personal History

Not much is known about Edward Morgan before he appeared on the planet Theta 122 in 2397 as the leader of a group of gatherers known as 'The Brotherhood of Thet'. It is known by a few select Brothers that he was in Starfleet before abandoning his commission and his post to create the cult on the planet. He in turn indoctrinated others from nearby Atlas Base and other ships from the flotilla surrounding the planet.

Morgan believes there are 'Gods' in the water source on the planet - a sole reservoir - located some miles away from Atlas. He claims that they speak to him, and have an omniscience which he cannot explain. Few outsiders are allowed access to the Sacred Water, and those who trespass or blaspheme are killed without mercy.

Morgan ordered the slaughter of the Ferengi away team sent by the FMS Kasseka and the vaporization of the bodies. The team had been sent by DaiMon Blet to secure the water drilling rights in the hopes of selling it on for a profit, but Morgan saw their arrival as blasphemy. He ordered the shuttles destruction and faked an engine failure as the shuttle left the atmosphere to return home.

He holds total command over the Brothers of the group, and allows the Gods to speak through them through him. One of his chief assistants is the enforncer Cheldon ch'Doro, a previously violent Andorian whose devotion to the Gods is as unwavering as Morgan's own. He uses Cheldon to keep the flock in line, as well as see to any unvetted outsiders who may get too close to the Sacred Caves, and the Sacred Water.

In The Ultimatum (Arrow), Morgan reveals that the Gods of the Water is in fact an Iconian - known as Thet - who has been stranded on the planet for many thousands of years, alone and wounded. Thet plans to use the energy of the lifeforce of carbon beings to power its gateway and return home to Iconia before he dies.

As Commander Collins and Counselor R'Ariel communed telepathically with Thet, it's hold on the Brothers weakened. In an act of self-sacrifice, partly due to guilt and partly due to the weakened hold of the Iconian, Morgan freed the Brothers from the spell entirely by overloading two phaser rifles and a complement of photon grenades, obliterating himself in the process. The resulting phased energy discharge powered the Gateway, making it possible for Thet to return home to die. The remaining brothers were transported to the SCV Ascended Codex for passage to the Arrow or any neutral destination they desired.
