Despite the name, shore leave does not always involve the crew disembarking the ship. Often, we might be exploring an uncharted planet, offering assistance to a Federation colony, taking care of relatively routine second contact duties, or something else. For example, if you wanted to write a joint sim with another player, it could take place on the aforementioned uncharted planet, with your character and theirs scanning plants on the surface.
