USS Euphrates is also the name of a Runabout assigned to Deep Space 26

The USS Euphrates (NCC 61958) is a Saber class Starfleet vessel. Its most recent assignment was to deliver medical supplies to New Atlantis, a planet in Sector 332. The vessel was presumed lost with all hands, with its final transmission coming from Sector 332 on 16th March 2379.

The cargo hauler Northwind discovered a vessel, believed to be the Euphrates, adrift at the edge of the Verona Nebula in nearby Sector 301, a sector with a history including T'lithian attacks. The discovery led to the Federation Council dispatching the USS Independence-A to investigate in September 2384.

Immediately prior to its disappearence, the Euphrates had served on patrol duties along the Romulan Neutral Zone. The vessel had previously been assigned to Sector 47 in 2377, and underwent a Baryon sweep in 2378. Maintenance records between late 2377 and early 2379 seemed incomplete upon inspection with discrepancies regarding several systems; notably the Impulse engines and Weapons systems. Both had been upgraded, to the knowledge of only a select few besides the vessels crew.
