Having met during a mission to Bocasa, Tristam didn't have enough time to get to know Alora before he and Roshanara Rahman thrust her into a certain form of danger. After standing on a landmine, Alora DeVeau was given the unfortunate job of following Tristam's instructions to disarm the bomb. Despite her steady hands and following the Rodulan's instruction to the letter, the mine ignited anyway, setting off a chain reaction to not obliterate the person on top of it, but to cause an explosion far below the ground, and underneath the mud dome they had been assessing moments prior.
Once returning to the ship, Tristam joined Alora and R'raika Voss for lunch. There, he learned more about the two women - why they joined Starfleet and Voss's surprisingly new taste for flake and tartare sauce.
Tristam and Alora were put into a team again with each other during a mission involved the Mercury. Towards the end, Alora was once again placed into a dangerous situation when a holographic version of Rahman took her hostage, holding her against her will with a phaser pressed into Alora's skin. Attempts to talk holographic Rahman down failed, and it was only due to the efforts by Lieutenant Delano and a holographic Mei'konda that freed Alora and deactivated (albeit, temporarily) Rahman. Tristam was severely rattled and became almost non-responsive shortly after the situation.
Several days after returning to the ship, a drugged-up Tristam called Alora out of loneliness, boredom, and a "floral smell".
