Personal History

Nelvo grew up in a rather new age Ferengi household. His father Luk an inspector for the Ferengi Gaming commision had no problems with the the reforms set in place by the former nagus Zek and carried on by the new nagus Rom. In fact his father only met his second wife due to females getting their right to wear clothing, hold jobs and leave their homes. Nelvo the oldest of the family's three children was a very inquisitive youth, and as he got older his fascination of life off world grew. He studied hard in school and thanks to a few well placed bribes by his step-mother even managed to get into an private school that taught using a federation curriculum. It was there his want to serve in starfleet originated.

The school helped with his applications and necessary sponsorship and very excited he left for earth shortly after his 18th birthday. As excited as he was however unprepared for how strange many of the federation customs were when he started to attend the academy. Though it took time he was able to meet friends, many over his enjoyment of the earth game called chess. Though he earned himself a demerit on his record for running a betting pool on games and getting caught.

His final year at the academy spent at sb118 learning on duty had been hard on him. The station with it’s busy commerce brought him contact with his own people many of whom looked down on him for leading such a profitless life. Being made to feel like less of a Ferengi was something he had faced since he was a teen, but he had always hoped it would somehow be different off the homeworld. He endeavored to not let it bother him throwing himself into his studies and duties. Keeping an attitude of showing his merit as a good officer and would worry about how he looked to his people later.
