Captains, please submit plot outlines for your ships by the 19th of each month.

FROM STARBASE 118

Commodore Brian Kelly was recently killed in service of the SEALS in sector 73. He was one of our finest. Through his talents as first officer aboard the USS Centris and then as captain of the USS Ranger, lives were saved and crisis were averted. He will be missed. We ask that you observe the fleet wide moment of silence at 1400 in reverence of our fallen comrade.

-Written by Commander Alis Hege

Sadly, the USS Ranger was imploded during contact with a crystalline entity. The USS Freedom - A did manage to rescue most of the Ranger crew, however, some members of both ships were killed during the crisis. We commenerate the lives and dedication of Draco Vandalic and John Cochrane.

PROMOTIONS

Congratulations to the following officers for their promotions.

  • Adros Payis, Commander, Star Base 118
  • Shaun Marlin, Lieutenant Commander, USS Freedom - A
  • Sally Strange, Lieutenant, USS Freedom - A

CURRENT SIM PLOTS

USS ALLIANCE

USS CENTRIS

We have entered the Portal at Egress Point D, and find ourselves in the Andromeda galaxy, where we have encountered a superior species called the Vothons. They exist as energy only, but are currently harvesting humanoid bodies for re-emergence as corporeal beings. Our ship has been infected with probes from these people, which we are attempting to eradicate so that they cannot follow us home.

USS FREEDOM-A

The Freedom has been space-bound now for a vlittle more than a month and a half. In that time, it has been through some interesting times. It was the unfortunate witness to the destruction of the USS RANGER. Fortunately, the FREEDOM was able to rescue her crew. However, a repair detail that was sent over to the RANGER was lost when the ship imploded under the pressure of a chrystalline entity that had engulfed it. The destruction of the RANGER found most of it's crew joining those on the FREEDOM. From there, we intercepted a distress call from a planet about 3 hours away at warp 6. Upon arriving, an away team sent to the surface disappeared and all of the crew except the Captain were removed from the FREEDOM to play some 'games' for a race located in another space-time reality. The combined efforts of the crew and Captain allowed for their escape.

USS NOVA

While on a routine mission to the Cytern System to rotate out archeological scientists, we were concerned to find that they did not respond to hails. While an away team was investigation, our ship has been boarded by Klingons, who have now taken over ship operations. The fate of our away team, in Klingons caverns on the surface, and our ship, is unknown.

INTERVIEW

This month I am interviewing Lieutenant junior grade Andrew Conway, Chief Engineer of the USS Panther, a male humanoid of unknown descent.

Why did you choose a career in StarFleet?

I choose to be with StarFleet because I felt the need to find who I truely was. Until I joined with StarFleet I had no home or place to call my own. I wondered from one place to the next. I had no goal in life until I became part of StarFleet. I have truely found my home and feel as though I have joined a large family.

Yes, your history is rather mysterious. Any clues to your origins yet?

I know for sure that I am a human, however, I have not found any clues as to where I came from. Not knowing who my parents were or where I am from I believe gives me the drive to do the best that I possibly can in the Federation. Not so much to erase my unknown past, but to give myself a better future. Hopefully one day I will uncover information about who my parents were and exactly where I am from.

I certainly wish you the answers you seek. You have served aboard the Panther now for awhile. What has that experience been like?

I too hope to find my roots. My transfer from the Nova to the Panther was not really that different. It took a little while to get use to how things work on here, but for the most part not that different. The crew on the Panther is great! For a good majority of the time that I have been on the Panther I had a lower class than what my other peers had, however, I was given the same amount of respect that others were. Everyone has listened to the ideas I have had and we all seem to work well together. Being in this environment is a lot better than when I was growing up and there was no respect for anyone. This is truely a team environment on the Panther. Getting back to the question... my experience on the Panther as Chief Engineer has been rough at times. I never anticipate being able to predict what will come. Each day brings something new to my experience on the Panther and that's what I like about being on this ship in StarFleet.

You seem contented on the Ranger. Do you have any dreams of making Captain someday?

I am satisfied with the Panther as I believe that is what you meant. I have aspirations of making Captain someday, but right now that is a long time off.

OUT OF CHARACTER

Some factoids about our various species here at UFOP. I list the number of current membors we have of each species. Except for some famous exceptions, they are all Federation Members. It's interesting how we all congregate around certain species. (Sorry, IRC stats not included as I do not have their bios.)
