With the inspiration fron the anime Escaflowne, I had decided to make an actual planet where House Fanel and its people reside on instead of it being on Earth or some other planet within Federation control. This also helps makes the legend of Escaflowne possible since the origin theory that ancient humaniod race was said to have created our planet and the human race. In Star Trek there was a TNG episode where every humanoid race in the galaxy was created by the first huamaniod race that either left this galaxy or died out many eons ago.

In the Escaflowne Anime if you have never seen it tells about an ancient race of humans that first was on Earth, become very powerful with advanced technology to a point where even to us modern people would seen to be almost magical. The ability to affect time, to manifest things almost out of no where and then the power to create worlds...or destroy worlds. This appearently happened to the Ancients who we know as the Atlantians. They grew arrogant to a point where they gave themselves angel like wings on their backs and this arrogance lead to big problems. The ancients left our planet leaving the fledging human race to fend for its own and also pretty much destroyed most of the records of the Atlantians on Earth say for stories from Plato and other myths. After they left our world, Earth, the Ancients created a completely new planet, either took a barren world and terraformed it or literally created a whole new world. It is said they travel the galaxy via gateways, most likely either wormholes, or actual gateway machines. Think of the travels like in Babylon 5 or the Stargates. Either way, these Ancients have travel tech where current Star Trek tech has yet to advance farther than warp save for the Borg with the traswarp and the gateways of the Iconians most likely a cousin race of the ancients.

Anyway Gaia was created from the Ancients and a human race was planted there. The ancients either died out or left the planet with some descendants through the human race still living today one family is House Fanel with a faint link through the main bloodline.

There was also the story in Escaflowne where the main character was able to travel from Earth to Gaia via some kind of portal surrounding the character in a pillar of light and literally sucked her up into the air where she disappeared and another pillar of light formed on Gaia and dropped her there. This could be an illiusion or something eitherly, but either way when the main character of Escaflowne landed on Gaia, she can see Earth as clear as day in the sky though on Earth Gaia could not be seen for some reason. My theory in this is that it's an illusion on Gaia's side that shows an open portal that was never closed and when the series ended, the portal finally closed, seperating Earth from Gaia until House Fanel that was established on Earth later traveled the stars and discovered the planet. It really doesn't matter if House Fanel believes Gaia actually existed or what they found was their ancestrial planet.
