:: Having finished her mug of tea, Lael moved toward the bunk in hopes of catching up on some sleep when Chythar and Alex re-entered the room. ::
:: Alex looked at Rosek across the room and found himself digging deeply to find courage to approach her. ::
Blair: Lieu...Lael, got a minute?
:: A nervous anxiety settled in her stomach as she nodded mutely. The tension that had eased up out of necessity during the mission had come back. ::
Blair: Well, we can chat here or go into the other room, I don’t mind either.
:: Chythar glanced over in their direction, hoping that whatever tension Alex mentioned was about to be lessened. ::
:: She cleared her throat and moved toward the other room, not even glancing over her shoulder, afraid that she’d change her mind. Whatever was about to pass between them, they didn’t need an audience. It would only make it more awkward. ::
:: Alex followed Rosek as she moved to the other room as a knot wrapped itself up inside his stomach. Once inside, he took a deep breath. ::
Blair: Lael, I wanted to take a moment to clear the air between us. ::Alex paused and looked at the woman who he had at one point called a close friend.:: I’m sorry Lael. I’ve been treating you unfairly and at some points a little unprofessionally and I’m truly sorry.
:: Lael nodded sagely. ::
Rosek: I’m sorry, too, Alex, that I got the three of us into this awful mess in the first place. :: pauses :: You have to know that no matter what I feel for Chythar, I would never do anything to hurt you...either of you.
:: Alex stared at the woman feeling the tears start to swell up again. ::
Blair: No, you have nothing to apologize for. You can’t help the way you feel and I’m the one who overreacted. I know that you would never do anything to hurt any of us, it was all just my own insecurities coming out and I’m sorry.
:: Lael was slightly taken aback by the moisture gathering at the corners of his eyes, at a loss for words as she wrapped her arms around Alex, hugging him tightly. ::
Rosek: :: murmurs ::Hey. It’s okay. We’re all okay.
:: Alex was grateful for Lael’s response, but he wasn’t finished yet. ::
Blair: Lael, I can’t thank you enough for everything you did on Hocktin. Despite how I had been treating you, you put yourself out there to protect and help me on more than one occasion. :: pause :: I know that I’ll never be able to repay you for that, but I want you to know that it’s not something I will ever forget.
:: Lael pulled back from the embrace, smiling. ::
Rosek: :: murmurs :: You’re one of my best friends, Alex, and what’s more...you’re important to Chythar. I would do it again without a second thought.
:: Alex smiled, secretly hoping the same would have been true if their roles were reversed. ::
Blair: Well, thank you anyways. Now let’s get back, who knows what Chythar and Dassa are thinking.
Rosek: :: laughs :: Dassa is likely sitting on the edge of her seat, ready to charge in if she hears phaser fire.
:: Alex laughed and motioned for the door. ::
Blair: Well then, we’d better get back so she can relax.
:: Alex followed Lael as she stepped back into the other room, wiping the moisture from his eyes. As they entered, Alex moved across the room and sat beside Chythar. ::
Blair: :: grinning :: So...how’s everybody doing?
:: Chythar looked up with a carrot in his mouth, and smiled at Lael with a slightly goofy grin. In his best Bugs Bunny impersonation, he asked casually. ::
Skyfire: What’s up, doc?
:: Alex looked at Chythar quizzically and smiled unsure of what the man was doing. ::
Rosek: :: laughs :: Bugs Bunny. A 21st century Earth kids cartoon.
:: A small smile crossed Lael’s lips, the cartoon reminding her of Maddy. The little girl had gone ahead of them with Anjar, Greywin, and Liara to get settled in while Lael, Alex, Chythar, and Dassa had wrapped things up on the Za, mostly waiting for the small group to be medically cleared. ::
Blair: Bugs Bunny? Maybe I’ll check that one out sometime, I don’t know when. I’ve got so many SCE projects to familiarize myself with, I don’t know if I’ll ever finish.
Rosek: :: smirks :: Let Maddy introduce you sometime. She can explain it better than me. It’s one of her favorite cartoons.
:: Alex nodded. ::
Blair: I’ll have to do that. How’s Maddy doing anyways? Is she adapting to her new home?
Rosek: :: smiles :: She’s speaking to me again, if that’s what you mean. :: pauses :: I’m still not completely comfortable with the idea of putting her at risk like that again. But her Aunt Dassa and Uncle Chythar talked me into it.
:: Chythar allowed Lael to answer, since the question was mostly directed at her anyway. He rested his free hand which wasn’t full of carrot on Alex’s knee, just wanting the familiar comfort from his partner given the rift that had formed between them over the last mission. ::
