Background
Prudence Elizabeth Blackwell was born in Portland, Oregon to Elanora and Gabe Blackwell on October 7, 2369. She had an eclectic upbringing thanks to her parents, as Elanora and Gabe were both lovers of art, music, history and particularly past technology and pop culture. In addition to her normal schooling, her parents exposed her to as much as possible, from ancient earth music collections going from Vaughner to Metal and current music, Literature, Art and exploring the way technology has developed in human society. Far from being a rigid upbringing, it was more of a continual series of experiences shared by the family.
While her parents encouraged Prudence to always find her own way, they were surprised when she applied for the Academy. In fact, her parents had hoped the children would focus more on contributing to the intellectual, cultural and artistic paths of humanity. Her brother, Lucas, has thrived in this wish and has grown into a popular artist and writer. Prudence however, while grateful for her upbringing, has always wanted to expand her boundaries, and the chance to learn about the universe and other societies was something she could not pass by.
It was her specific interest in understanding communication, not just on a behavioral and linguistic sense, but how technology impacts that communication, that pushed her towards the Communication/Ops track. She also studied non terran languages in order to gain a wider understanding of differing grammar and linguistic patterns, and expand her understanding of cross cultural and specifies communication behaviors.
