Nigel Barrett spent most of his years on Earth, living in a small suburb outside of San Diego, California. A son to immigrant parents from London, England, his father, Phillip, was a computer programmer, and his mother, Elizabeth, was a stay at home mom/teacher. She had home schooled Nigel and his sister up until they entered high school. Nigel had quite an ordinary home life, and seldom experienced any type of hardships or pain. The only thing that really affected his was the death of his grandmother (Father's side) Emily. Being a integral part of his life, she was often at their home, babysitting, reading him stories, playing baseball, and teaching him chess. Her death brought on  much grief, and it wasn't until he was older that he finally understood that everyone has their time to go, and there was no way of stopping it, his grandmother always told him that she would be leaving him on day, but being so young, he didn't pay mind to it, he always thought she would around forever. After her death, Nigel was seven years old, and still had much time to grow up, and before even thinking of entering Starfleet. He was raised Anglican, and would often attend church with the family, and take part in the youth group, having retreats and VBS. Though he was an altar boy as well, he feared he would drop the candles or crucifix on his way to the altar, so he gave that up shortly after.

In his free time, Nigel was just like every other kid, he liked to read, experiment with computers, and played outside. He played in soccer for several years in high school, and had a deep passion for baseball. Though he knew he wasn't good enough to play either of these professionally, Nigel kept himself focused on computers, but at the age of twelve, grew interested in starfleet when overhearing about it on the news.

Backstory

Nigel Barrett spent most of his years on Earth, living in a small suburb outside of San Diego, California. A son to immigrant parents from London, England, his father, Phillip, was a computer programmer, and his mother, Elizabeth, was a stay at home mom/teacher. She had home schooled Nigel and his sister up until they entered high school. Nigel had quite an ordinary home life, and seldom experienced any type of hardships or pain. The only thing that really affected him was the death of his grandmother (Father's side) Emily.

During his high school years, Nigel pretty much remained under the radar, which was fine with him. He had a few close friends, and was considered by most of his peers as a "shy, but nice guy". His college and academy years were much the same spending a lot of time in his studies, reading, drawing and playing guitar.
