Chronological History

Mirra was born and raised on Betazed with her parents and older brother. Her parents were students of philosophy and had met while attending university. Both parents went on to become instructors, as did her brother once he reached adulthood. Knowledge was considered a blessing, and broadening horizons and enthusiasm for learning was certainly nurtured and celebrated.

Mirra had a fondness for the medical sciences, and excelled in the subject in school. At the age of 10, Mirra lost her very best friend, Melora to a devastating illness. She watched Melora deteriorate in front of her eyes due to the terminal effects of her disease. The sorrow and feelings of helplessness was almost too much to handle. After she passed away, Mirra made a vow that she would join Star fleet and become a doctor. She would honor her friend's memory by never allowing a patient to die without the absolute knowledge she had done everything in her power to prevent it. Her passion for medicine and her racial predisposition for empathy helped propel her towards her goal. While normally clear headed, a near debilitating fear of the safety of transporters would often cause awkward, and sometimes slightly amusing interactions with her fellow crew members.
