Chronological History
Maria was born in the primary enclave of Basilea on Coverius III. Her father is a diplomat and her mother is a captain of a Coverian Defence Force Corvette, the CDF Ferrum. She has a younger brother who is currently still in school.
Like all Coverians, at the age of 20 she went off to a different enclave to study the various castes. She was sent to Vesunna, studying and being assessed for 8 years. Upon completion of the 8 years, the Vesunna council decided she would be best placed in the Aqua caste as an envoy. The planet wide Caste Council thought the best place for her talents would be aboard a diplomatic vessel.
She initially served as an assistant to the Chief Diplomat to the Federation. Serving admirably in the role, she was eventually promoted and offered the chance to study with Starfleet, one of the first Coverians to be given the opportunity, with the hope of fostering better relations.
She signed up as an enlisted crewman, completing the mandatory one year at Starfleet Academy, before taking an extra year specialising in intelligence. Upon graduation, she was awarded the rank of Petty Officer, 3rd Class and assigned to the USS Blackwell as an Intelligence Analyst.

A Note On Names
Name order: Rank/Title-First name-clan name-surname-(honorary title)
First name is only used by close family or very close friends. It is more usual to address somebody by their clan name. For example, it would be Ensign Aquilina or if talking informally to a colleague, Maria. Her parents would call her Lucia.
Her full name is Sol'Aqua (Equivalent to mr, miss, dr, prof etc and is a combination of her Coverian rank and caste) Lucia (first name) Maria (clan name) Aquilina (surname).
