Background

As a child, Lorian was always a strange Vulcan. He had always made attempts at humour. His parents tried to stop him from doing this, but it just came naturally to him. Instead, they focused on his study of science. From a young age he was always interested in plants. He could often be found in his family’s garden studying the intricacies of the different organisms, or in the library reading up on the latest plant facts. His mother, being in the field of xenobiology and knew a small amount about botany, taught him all she could. He had a special interest in cacti.

Lorian was a fast learner in the Vulcan Learning Academy, but the other children were quick to pick on him, for he acted the most human out of all of them. His attempts at comic relief or a funny anecdote always ended in logical defeat. He eventually gave up his humour, deciding it was better to be normal than controversial. He passes with high marks in all his classes, not enough to be top in the school, but still more than needed to get into any school of his(AKA his parent's) choice.

He graduated in 2385 and later that year started studying botany at the Vulcan Science Academy. The people there didn’t accept the way that Lorian lived, but they did agree that he was a brilliant botanist, so logic dictated they let him stay. After six tedious years at the academy, Lorian finally decided he was done. He packed his things and left his old life behind. He applied to join Starfleet and was accepted soon after. He began his long journey to becoming a Starfleet officer.

Soon after joining Starfleet, he realized he could finally use his humor without being shunned. This realization changed Lorian’s life. He began to lax his emotional control, he became more human-like mentally. He didn’t fit in with the Vulcan cliques at the academy, instead he mostly had human friends. He also took various cooking classes, attempting to master the culinary arts. On stardate 239209.26, he was walking past a dorm room when suddenly it's door opened. A human male was walking out with a small kitten. He promptly told him how his cat had a litter by accident and he was giving away kittens and was wondering if Lorian wanted one. He happily accepted and Captain Patches entered his life. After majoring in science, specializing in botany and xenobiology, as well as minoring in Command, specializing in Diplomacy with hostile species, he graduated Starfleet with the flying colors expected of a Vulcan.

Personality

Lorian is very cool headed and logistic while on duty; however, he has a goofy side to him. He enjoys joking around with his friends and playful teasing. His puns may be groaners but you will EARN those groans. He also quite enjoys Terran culture and has attempted numerous research projects (movie nights) in an attempt to learn more. He is extremely protective of his plants. He trusts only himself and his automated systems to handle them. Expect your hand to be slapped if you try to touch them without asking.

Leave of Absence

Lovar had a six month leave of absence in order to work on an independent research study. A group of botanists had learned of the vulcan and wanted him on their research team to study the flora of Bopak III. Flattered, Lovar accepted, leaving the fleet for a brief period to work on their paper.
