Backstory - 2380

In 2380 Katalina Briyal served as an Ensign in the security force at Midway Repair Facility. Though she was only an Ensign, she served as Assistant Chief of Security for the small station, and therefore had plenty of access codes. When the experimental starship USS Trillium docked at Midway, it was clear that someone was attempting to steal it. Katalina revealed herself to be an independent terrorist who planned to steal the starship and blame it on Starfleet officers. She framed and attacked Idril Mar, who was overseeing repairs, putting her in a coma and giving the Mar Symbiont amnesia. Briyal escaped without the Trillium but vowed revenge on those who had tried to foil her plans. It is unknown whether she had actually attended Starfleet Academy, or was simply posing as a security Ensign.

2384

In 2384 she resurfaced on Lememda IV posing as a treasure hunter after the valuable 'Eye of the Sun' artefact. Since no-one on the Away Team had encountered her before, they chose to trust her, but it was soon evident she was going to betray them and steal the artefact. She was captured and imprisoned on the USS Ronin, but not before being stripped to her skivvies at the amusement of Captain Idril Mar, who remembered very well the ordeal the Ktarian put her through.

Fate

She was transferred to Deep Space 17 for holding, but it is rumoured she escaped the brig when the Station had its encounter with the Alternate Universe. It is unknown whether she is still at large, or living in the Alternate Universe.
