Tadanobu Hoshino is a PNPC civilian based on Lyshan VI played by Ryoma Hoshino.

Tadanobu is the father of Ryoma Hoshino, Intelligence Officer aboard the USS Discovery-C and husband of Kyoko Hoshino, a freight traffic controller for the Lyshan Colonial Authority.

Of Japanese descent, Tadanobu moved to Lyshan VI on the border of Federation-Cardassian space as a young man, transferring his career in conservationism from the local park authorities of Hokkaido, Japan, to the Lyshan Colonial Authority. He is a champion of the natural beauty of the Lyshan system.

He is well-known on Lyshan as an anti-militarist. Tadanobu saw first-hand the effects of the Federation-Cardassian border skirmishes and particularly the Dominion War in which he evacuated with his family to Starbase 129. He despairs for the decision of his son to join Starfleet, and it has left a rift in their relationship which has yet to be healed.
