From birth, Gravek has always been the outcast. While a typical Tellarite litter consists of six, he was the unexpected and exceedingly rare seventh sibling. Fortunately, his parents were adaptable and quickly made a life plan for him as well - to follow in their footsteps as politicians and ambassadors. As such, they trained him from a young age to one day sit on the Federation Council as they had always dreamed they might themselves one day. To this end, he was enrolled in the top preparatory school for foreign affairs, political science and diplomacy on Tellar.
Unlike the majority of Tellarites, Gravek does not believe in arguing for the sake of arguing. While he does believe in the power of presenting multiple perspectives on a situation, he has found that arguing is not the best approach with those unfamiliar with Tellarite custom. As such, he has long resisted the cultural traditions of his people, preferring to adapt his approach to others based on their own cultural means of interaction. Due to this proclivity, his parents have essentially disowned him, fervently believing he holds no Tellarite values in his heart and shall never amount to their dreams for his future.
In order to prove himself, he decided to enroll in Starfleet Academy, majoring in counseling and science. His eventual plan is to transfer from Starfleet into the Federation Diplomatic Corps, but not before he finds a way to prove to himself and his detractors that his methods have merit.
