Personal History
Debra was brought up in a very strict manor. After her mother’s death when she was two. She became Jacks only hope to continue the family tradition despite benign a woman. For 12 generations the Cross men had served with distinction in the Marines on the front lines. From an early age she was a very active child enjoying dance, her slight strong figure made her ideal. By the age of 13, she started to go in for competitions and won most of them she got hooked on competition.
At 15, Debra found Dance not challenging enough for her so, also started to competing in target practice. With in the Year She was representing her school as well as competing against adults with long rifles.
She had a good father but did not have time a spend with her so he shipped her off to boarding School to give her a good education, discipline and a head start in military life. During her time with her father he made her homed her social skills and was often seen on his arm at formal occasions or they would go camping together. Although at first she did not enjoy and get on at the academy, she was hooked on sports like climbing, skydiving and diving. Debra did well her academically but did get into trouble with discipline several times.
As the only family air she decided to follow tradition she joined star-fleet as a marine NCO, with her father’s reluctant blessing as he wanted her to have a safer job. After each time Debra got into trouble the relationship with her father got worse.
Education
Cross Academy. (Military based boarding school, Named after her great-great-grand-grandfather General Mathew Cross)
Cross was the third generation of the family to go to the Academy, in an agreement from the start of the Academy that all Cross kids automatically get a place without any testing.
Debra excelled in several areas not only winning the Academy several cups for dancing as well as marksmanship. She also excelled in Klingon studies, thinking that they would be a big threat to the federation and a better understanding of them would help her in later life.
Startfleet Academy
Debra's background help her pass all the classes with very good score, apart from basic shuttle operations which she scrapped through after a two re-takes. Excelling in several area including survival skills and weapons. Due to the fact that she already had several Star-fleet qualifications and the fact that she took extra classes Debra took an extra minor, her course choices where based on the hope that she could get back into Marine Special Forces and please her father.
To celebrate a good third year Debra jumped off the golden gate bridge and was received a reprimand for it.

Career Summary
With several other marines Debra was involved in a bar room brawl after a misunderstanding over a card game.
Debra was assigned as a Forward Observer for the 3rd Marine Company. During one battle she was cut off from the company and engaged the Cardassian solders one her own diverting some of their attack give the company a chance to re-group and counter attack on a flank they were not expecting any action. She had pulled them into a wooded area where 8 dead Cardassian bodies were later found.
For her actions she was transferred to Special Forces where she continued her good service and even cleaned up her act. Due to her good looks, ability to use concealed weapons combined with the threat of changelings, she was assigned to special operations as a bodyguard and posed as a UFP councilor's girl friend. She enjoyed the dressing up but could not stand the man or the fact she was missing the war, so she requested a transfer but had to wait until near the end of the Dominion war to get it. They had several disagreements but Debra managed to persuade him that it was to make her cover more realistic.
Cross spent the rest of the dominion war serving with distinction in the shadows of the war. As the end of the war Cross’s unit was assigned to a Klingon Bird-of-Prey to help with the mop-up, it was hard at first as only 3 years before they were at war. Cross embraced the Klingon way and even ended up speaking Klingon fluently with a little bit of a regional accent. It was when she met Sho’ka a klingon warrior aboard.
The mission when bad due to poor intelligence and planning by their new tactical officer, who was fresh out of the academy, allow it just ended in a success. During the mission 7 of the 10 Marines were killed and Debra was badly injured using her body to protect the target from a grenade. A month later when the tactical officer tried to award her a commendation at the hospital she knocked him unconscious with a single punch.
After nearly a year of recovery Debra was court-marshaled, she was stripped of rank and privileges. She was sent to star-fleet academy in the hope to teach her off duty discipline. She was observed helping her fellow class mates and impressed the instructors enough that when is graduated she came back as a Weapons instructor. All her class had a significantly higher range scores than any other class that year.
She made a good instructor but her kind way made her popular with the trainees but not with most of the instructors as they saw her as soft for a marine or too disciplined for a fleeter. She used her time in teaching well to expand her knowledge as she took all courses that she could, slowly gaining the respect of her pears. Things where looking up for Debra until she fell for a married flight instructor and when their affair can to life where both court-marshaled. Jane Morgan nee Kellye also suffered loss of rank and was taken off flight duties. With Debra's record it was heavily suggested that she took a discharge but she rejected the offer.
Cross was assigned to the USS Apollo as Security officer, with her experance she quickly made an impression as was moved to Tactical position and soon after fill the position of CTO. Despite her good performance Cross was never fully happy with working tactical and tool a posting on the USS Avandar as a security officer until she could get back in the Marines.
Cross managed to get herself a position in the knight of the Excalibur but before she could make her mark she was transferred to the USS Columbia. As a marine she was use to lots of moving but several things that happened on and off duty made her question her file and continuing full dedication to service and if she could also have a life outside the marines.
Medical Record
Debra looks after her body well; she is has an excellent overall fitness for a marine. She had several broken bones but all have healed well. Debra sustained serious burn damage to her back, arms and the top of her legs, if she did not presume the correct position she would not have survived. Injuries like that cause more than physical damage. The scaring is too expensive for simple cosmetic surgery and has opted not to undergo complex reconstruction.

Psychological Record
Debra is a bright and dedicates herself fully whatever she dose. Her earlier mischievous behaviour is just simple rebellion ageist her strict upbringing. She has dealt with her injuries better than I could have expected, possibly due to her family background or they where cased in saving another life. Debra has a chip on her shoulder but it is not full undeserved from what I can see of her record. Although mentally she is not a typical trooper, she is fit for duty.

Non-Standard Weapons
On passing basic training Debra’s father presented her with a replica of his side arm that had been passed down the Cross family and improved by several generations. Tradition is that she would get the original when her father finally retired. I look like an early 21st century firearm but contains a Type IIc phasor. The weapons has a simple selector switch with 3 setting on it (Safety, Mode 1, Mode 2), the clip now contains the power cell and also selectors to set the power of each mode. The cell contains less power than a normal type IIc phasor but can quickly changed in combat. A light or laser marker can be attached under the barrel. The grip is fitted with biometric sensors meaning that if anyone not programmed into the weapon tries to fire it they will get a light stun.
Debra sometimes carries a Tessen (war fan) as a concealed weapon. Rebecca Flagg taught her how to use them during their time at the academy, although Debra is very good at use it in combat she never mastered its suttlties. She had two designs at her disposal. The first is a basic fan with re-enforced composite struts, which will be missed by most weapons scanner or personal inspection. The second was designed by John Blake with the fabric of the fan consisting of power absorbing material that helps to power a structural integrity field that allows it to block very limited energy fire. The metallic look of this fan can also be use to reflect light for singling.
Debra also had a Klingon D'k tahg with the crest of the house of Ruktah on it, she keeps it in a place of honour within her weapons case but usually does not use it as it generates questions but with all her weapons it is kept sharp and ready to go. It was a gift from a young klingon worroir, Sho’Ka, during their time together just after the dominion war.
She is extremely skilled with the Mek’leth but only uses it when she is expecting lot of close combat.
Character Notes
Debra is a very disciplined person, her life is structured but not to the point of OCD. When not in the field every morning she gets up for a 1 hour run before showing and breakfast, of nutrition shake, and then to her duty station. Once she finished it is at least one hours training each day.
She usually feels "naked" when she is unarmed so she will usually have a knife concealed on her or carries a covert Tessen (War Fan).
Debra's room never has many personal items in it and looks like she just using it temporally. She will have a photo of Jane Morgan nee Kellye wearing black pearl necklace, the pearl Debra free dived to collect herself during their time together. She always has a fully packed kit bag close to the door so she can get it on the way out and several packed parachutes ready for use.
Debra has a fold away cribbage board that holds a pack of cards she packs it in her kit if she thinks that she would have time for a game, it is also quite often with her when she goes to lounges or bars.
Time as an Instructor
As with a lot of Star-fleet instructors they had their own way within the rules laid down. Cross would always start and end with her marine discipline but the rest of the time she was kind and patient tutor. She did not like classrooms and preferred to do anything in practical rooms or outside. Instead of using computer system to aid teaching things she would show them, for instance stripping a weapon to explain how it works.
Cross for fair but hard when it came to discipline. She would push her students as hard as she could, often challenging then to beat her score despite the fact that she would use her advanced training and technique that were not know to the students.
Since she has moved back to an operational role, Cross has found herself working with some of her ex-students and acquaintances.

Cross Residence (Earth)
The residence and grounds take over the a small island, that use to be a holiday resort that was the southen most part of Singapore, and still called Sentosa. It was abandoned years ago and allowed nature to take over, with only a few dwellings used by the powerful.
Originally was gifted to General Mathew Cross by the federation for his service, it remains for use of the Cross family. The original agreement still stands where by the Federation uses it for informal meetings and events and in turn keeps it up to date with the latest technology. Due to its diplomatic role the island is classified and requires clearance to find out specific information about it.
Since it was gifted to the Cross family, every member of the family have use it when they were back on earth.
It has a fond place for Debra as she it was had a lot of memories for her in the building and its grounds. Her father took her camping in the grounds and she learnt basic survival skills on the grounds. As a young adult she had attended several federation events on her father’s arm.
During her time as an instructor she spent a lot of her off time at the Cross residence, quite often enjoying the grounds rather than staying in the house itself. The grounds include several semi-temporary structures that Debra loved to use. Her favourite being one just off the breach that she frequented with Jane Morgan nee Kellye.

Debra was asked to talk and work with Rebecca when she joined the Academy due to the fact that they where both injured marine NCO and that Rebecca was now becoming an officer after recovery. Despite there similar history Debra and Rebecca where big opposites, with Rebecca's love of Arts and Enjoyment contrasting to Debra life of Service. They helped each other and formed a friendship, they don't speak very often but Debra know that she would be there if needed.

When Debra joined the USS Excalibur-A CD was the doctor that did her physical, he was a dealing with his own problems and Debra had feeling for him. They did not get a chance to talk until the end of the mission during Fleet Captain Kalianna Nicholotti's wake. She felt odd having a good time at a wake.
Quickly CD was transferred to USS Garuda before there relationship could really start. Shortly after while on a breath stop over on SB118 Cross put the new relationship to the limit by sleeping with Jane Kellye and then confessing to it in a letter to CD. |
