Personality

Saaris lives in the world of ideas and strategic planning. She values intelligence, knowledge and competence, and has high standards in these regards, which she continuously strives to fulfill. To a somewhat lesser extent, she has similar expectations of others.

She focuses her energy on observing the world, constantly gathering information, making associations and generating ideas and possibilities. Saaris is always scanning available ideas and concepts and weighing them against her current strategy, to plan for every conceivable contingency. She can be tremendously insightful and is usually very quick to understand new ideas, but her primary interest is not understanding a concept, but rather applying that concept in a useful way. She is driven to come to conclusions about ideas and her need for closure and organization usually requires that she takes some action.

She is a natural leader, although she usually chooses to remain in the background until she sees a real need to take charge. When she is in a leadership role, she can be quite effective; able to objectively see the reality of a situation and adaptable enough to change things which aren not working well.

Personal History

The circumstances surrounding Saaris' conception are unclear and Saaris herself has come to attribute the unusual pairing to an unanticipated (or accidentally triggered) Pon Farr on a scientific expedition. Saaris spent her childhood shuttling between two families as her parents shared custody, spending half a year with her single mother and the other her with her father, his wife and their children. It was a situation she found difficult, switching between one home where she was encouraged to express her emotions, and another where she was expected to suppress them.

As Saaris matured, it became obvious that she was a telepathic mute - not only was she unable to project and read thoughts or emotions, she was also completely unreadable to other telepaths and empaths. Already struggling to fit into the mould expected by Vulcan society, she now found herself considered disabled by betazoid standards and with virtually no place in their telepathic society.

Professional History

Saaris was accepted to Starfleet Academy on her first attempt. She was a good student, though not an exceptional one, and after her graduation she was posted to the USS Newton. Upon her promotion to full Lieutenant, she was transferred to the USS Eagle.
