Alex did not have a easy child hood growing up in a politically unstable environment due to the Political turmoil on Rutia IV. Besides the situation on her planet her upbringing was rather calm and normal, taking every days happenings in stride. When Dana was only 5 yrs old she had the fortune of meeting Dr. Beverley Crusher, although she was only a small girl the meeting left a great mark on her and influenced her career in medicine.

After graduating from school and university she moved to Earth to peruse further studies in medicine. She spent a few years working in various hospitals when she decided to join Starfleet. <right>Template:Embassy
